Additional Information

Bogotá has established itself as a global hotspot for graffiti. With its awe-inspiring murals and street art, it surpasses cities such as Miami, Amsterdam, Río, and México City. Its emergence as a leading graffiti hub in Latin America has transformed it into a tempting venue for both adventure-seeking tourists and dynamic artists. Surprising, isn’t it?

Like all places where graffiti thrives, Bogotá’s relationship with this form of art has seen its share of controversy. However, outstanding art has the power to rise above negative stereotypes. Today, nobody would refer to it as mere vandalism. The city has faced challenges in recognizing this art form, but its perseverance has paid off making the city richer for it. Bogotá’s graffiti masterpieces blend social and political critiques with a fusion of indigenous and international styles, offering a visual treat for viewers.

Embark on this journey not only to explore Colombia’s history narrated through art but also to experience Bogotá as a carefully curated outdoor gallery of remarkable artists!

Graffiti Tour, Candelaria by Luis - Luis was such an amazing tourguide! He took us for a graffiti walk through La Candelaria, to corners you would not go to yourself, to tell us about the history and background of graffiti artworks in Bogota and Colombia. He did it with great passion and I would really recommend anyone who would like to dive into the local street culture to have Luis as your storyteller. Thank you so much!

Beautiful Public Art - We loved the graffiti tour with Bernardo. He explained the techniques used by the artists as well as the social and cultural themes depicted in the art. We saw many beautiful murals and also walked La Candelaria.

Art beyond words - Really fantastic way to see a bit of the soul of the city. The tour included some history, explanations and examples of graffiti/mural styles, and lots of fun photo ops. Our guide, Christian, was so passionate about the art and thr Colombian culture. I strongly recommend this as a supplement/alternative to the more traditional city tour.

What went wrong? - For us, graffiti / street art tours are often the highlight of getting to know a new city and we were very much looking forward to this one (booked through Booking. Com). We met the English-speaking guide with the yellow umbrella, in the plaza as arranged, just after 10am on Saturday 20th. He seemed to be expecting the three of us. But it slowly became apparent that it was not a graffiti tour. We tasted tasty fruit in the market and learnt interesting facts about Colombia. We would have learnt more if the pleasant young man had not spoken so fast that we (native English speakers) could not decipher a lot of what he said. Speed does not equal fluency. About 20 minutes into the tour we left. No street art had been mentioned although there was plenty to see. So what went wrong? Were we intentionally bumped to the only English tour that morning? Was there a miscommunication? I have no idea. I contacted the tour organisers shortly afterwards to ask, but had no reply. So if you book on this attractive tour, be sure you are getting what you asked for before you set off!
