- Bodrum Castle - Our first stop will be Bodrum Castle. The Bodrum Castle (Castle of St. Peter or Petronium) was constructed by the Knights of St John between 1406-1522 on a small rocky peninsula between two sheltered harbors in Bodrum. The castle was built using stones from the Mausoleum, one of the seven wonders of the world, which was destroyed by an earthquake.
The Bodrum Castle features towers named after the French, Italian, English, German, and Spanish, representing the nations responsible for their construction. After the Turks took over the island of Rhodes in 1522, the knights departed from Bodrum and its surrounding area on January 5, 1523.
The castle was used as a prison from 1895 and fell into ruin due to bombing by French and English forces on May 26-28, 1915, during World War I, leading to its abandonment.
- Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaeology - After exploring Bodrum Castle, we will visit the Underwater Archaeology Museum.
The Bodrum Underwater Archaeology Museum, the only one of its kind in the country and among the few worldwide, is located in Bodrum Castle. Since 1964, the museum has showcased a rich collection of underwater artifacts dating from the 16th century AD to the 16th century BC. Most artifacts were discovered during underwater excavations along the country’s shores since 1960. In addition to underwater finds, land discoveries that illuminate the history of the Bodrum Peninsula are also displayed in the museum.
- Otantik Ocakbaşı - After visiting the museum, we will have lunch at a traditional local kebab house. Enjoy authentic Anatolian and Mediterranean cuisine, featuring the finest beef, lamb, fish, and local meze selections in town.
Our private tours are all-inclusive. They include pick-up and drop-off from your hotel, travel in a luxury vehicle, lunch at a traditional local kebab house, unlimited free soft drinks during the tour, and entrance fees to all ancient cities and museums. There are no additional charges for anything.
- Bodrum Amphitheater - After lunch, we will explore the Bodrum Amphitheater.
The Bodrum Antique Theatre dates back to the 4th century BC and is attributed to King Mausolos. It features a classic Greco-Roman design typical of amphitheaters from that era. Known as the Theatre at Halicarnassus, it was a gathering place for theater, spectacles, gladiator fights, and various public shows in ancient times. The Bodrum Amphitheater became a cultural hub during ancient times.
Today, the amphitheater is experiencing a revival as it continues to serve its original purpose. Climb the steps or attend a concert to walk in the footsteps of those who visited the theater centuries ago.
The theater was excavated and renovated by the Turkish government in 1973. Today, it has a slightly smaller capacity of 10,000 people.
- Bodrum District - After exploring the Antique Theatre of Bodrum, we will visit the Windmills.
A trip to Bodrum, Turkey, would not be complete without visiting one of its most famous landmarks. The windmills, prominently situated high on a hill of the Bodrum peninsula, are a must-see for thousands of tourists each year. For some, they offer a glimpse into history and culture, while for others, they provide a new perspective on the vast landscape. Additionally, they are a beautiful spot for capturing great vacation photos.
- Bodrum District - Finally, enjoy a traditional Turkish coffee at a panoramic terrace in Bodrum city while taking in the view. It’s a wonderful way to end the day with a Turkish coffee, watching the sunset at the best spot in town: The Marmara’s terrace. (with a little surprise)
