I felt it appropriate to send you my review of your bikes and bites tour from Sunday. It was well and truly the worst part of our 10 day tour to Peru and it was by far the worst tour we've ever been on. How you can warrant charging $110 for two people is unfathomable. With Antonio as our guide, we were promised 4 hours of cycling around Lima eating the most delicious food there was to offer. We were advised to skip breakfast as there would be so much food. The first time we ate was at 12:55 after 2hrs and 25mins cycling around aimlessly. We cycled the wrong way down dual carriageway roads and then along the pavement, hearing some benign facts about Lima. We got to the dock and were taken out in a boat for 15 minutes, being told facts like "people do not do watersports in peru" as we looked at people surfing, wind surfing and paddle boarding in the distance. Antonio had talked about the fish market at the dock being the main source of fish in Lima. As he cycled away from the market I had to shout after him. "Antonio, wouldnt it be good if we could go in and see the fish?" "oh, of course". He knew nothing about the fish and just poked at a few of the crabs to say they were usually alive. There was 3 food and 1 drink stop on the tour. At the first food stop we shared a selection of cevice, rice and fried fish. The food was good but this was a normal plate for one person which had to be shared between four of us (3 on the tour and Antonio). Antonio looked at his phone and watched the football for the most of it. Cost of the plate - s/ 24 total. At the second stop (La Posada Del Mirador in Barranco) we had 4 potato Causa pieces on a plate. Each was a different flavour and so we had to cut them into 4 to try and taste each. We were rushed out of here after being there for 10 minutes. Cost of dish - s/ 25 total (guess.) At the third stop, we went to La Panandera in Barranco and had a piece of gluten free passionfruit cake each. This cake was delicious. So delicious that we asked if we could have a coffee to go with it. Antonio advised that this was a bad idea as we were about to have a beer. We insisted we wanted the coffee and were provided with one by the nice lady behind the counter. Antonio then told us that we would have to pay this ourselves (s/ 10 total). Fair but considering we had already felt a little short changed already, disappointing. Total cost of cakes - s./ 7 each x 3 + one for antonio = s/ 28. We then went off to the Barranco Beer Company and were given 177ml of beer each. The beer was good and the brewery was cool. Antonio said a few words about how the beer was nice and then rushed us out the door. Total cost s./ 7 per person. s/ 21 total. We then rushed off up the road on our bikes, cycling the wrong way down multiple busy roads, before getting back to base camp at 15:05. We were then asked for payment of $110 total for two of us. We paid in Soles and were 1.2 Soles short. Would you believe it that Antonio had a huge issue with this and was insisting that we paid the extra, despite us having paid him 390 for the worst tour we'd ever been on? He eventually dropped it and we went on our way. Total cost of food = s/ 77 Total cost of drink = s/ 21 Total = s./ 98 Between 3 guests and 1 tour guide that is s./ 33 per person without the guide paying for himself. Avoid at all costs. Rent yourself a bicycle for a few soles and cycle down to the harbour area yourself. Pick up some food and drinks on the way and save yourself a packet. The facts were meaningless, the guide wasnt interested, the portions were tiny and the route was dangerous.

It felt disorganized. Long waits for almost everything including picking up bikes, getting on boat, and food. Had to carry bikes up several flights of stairs of Barranco. That sucked the most.
