Bishkek - Begin your exciting tour with a morning pick-up from your hotel. The journey starts towards Burana Tower in the quaint town of Tokmok, located 80km from Bishkek. Your guide will introduce you to the mausoleums and other structures unearthed by archaeologists. You’ll have the opportunity to climb the ancient tower for a breathtaking view of the Chui Valley and the Tien-Shan Mountains. Visit the small museum showcasing various archaeological artifacts and an open-air museum featuring ancient gravestones, rock drawings, and other fascinating historical items found in the region.
Boom Gorge - The Boom Gorge serves as a link between the Chui Valley and Song Kol Lake. The Chu River, one of the largest in Tien-Shan, flows through this picturesque gorge. Here, you’ll stop for snacks and tea at a local restaurant, enjoying national puff cakes with sour cream and tea brewed in a Russian samovar, offering a unique taste.
Orto Tokoy Reservoir is another scenic stop where you can admire the panoramic view of the first constructed reservoir, surrounded by the majestic dry mountains of the Naryn region. This is the only place in Kyrgyzstan where you can see camels due to the climate conditions.
Song Kol Lake - After a 2-3 hour drive, the ascent to Song-Kol Lake begins. The landscape continuously transforms from rocky dunes to lush green hills. Here, you may encounter peacefully grazing mountain yaks, impressive creatures known for their strength. The vast meadows of the pass are home to the mountain edelweiss, a beautiful flower symbolizing the mountains and inspiring lyrical works. From the highest point, the surrounding mountain peaks and the valley from which the ascent began are visible, offering a breathtaking perspective of the journey. The road then descends, and the hike down is swift. Soon, you’ll arrive at Song-Kul Lake. The journey through the Kalmak-Ashuu Pass is a thrilling adventure. Around 5 PM, you’ll reach your yurt camp at Song-Kol Lake. Check-in, relax after the drive, enjoy some free time, and later, light a fire to enjoy the lake and stars.
Song Kul Lake - Kochkor - Bokonbaevo
