Bishkek - Burana Tower - Boom Gorge - Eagle Hunting Show - Overnight Yurt Stay
Burana Tower Tours - Begin the day with a guide and driver picking you up from your Bishkek hotel to embark on an eastern journey. Travel through the lush Chui Valley along the Kazakh border, taking in the stunning views of the snow-capped Tien Shan Mountains and quaint local villages. Discover the 11th-century Burana Tower, a significant historical monument of Kyrgyzstan and part of the ancient Silk Road city of Balasagun. Climb to the top for a breathtaking view of the valley, visit the small archaeological museum, and wander among the open-air collection of ancient balbals (stone warrior statues).
Boom Gorge - Continue the adventure through the magnificent Boom Gorge, a natural passage between Bishkek and Issyk-Kul. Here, the Chu River winds through red-rock cliffs and verdant valleys. Pause for lunch at a local café, savoring national puff cakes with sour cream and tea brewed in a Russian samovar.
Bokonbayevo - Arrive at Bokonbaevo on the southern shore of Issyk-Kul Lake, the heart of Kyrgyz nomadic culture. Experience a live Golden Eagle Hunting Show, where a local berkutchi (eagle hunter) showcases ancient falconry traditions, Taigan hunting dogs, and Kyrgyz archery. Spend the night in a cozy yurt camp by the lake, enjoying a traditional dinner under the stars.
Bokonbaevo → Skazka Canyon → Barskoon Waterfall → Jeti Oguz → Karakol
Barskoon Waterfall - Venture into Barskoon Valley, renowned for its waterfalls cascading from alpine forests. Visit the “Tears of a Leopard” waterfall and see the monument to Yuri Gagarin, the first man in space, who once vacationed here.
Jeti-Oguz Canyon (Seven Bulls Rocks) - Explore the picturesque “Seven Bulls” — towering red-sandstone cliffs — and the “Broken Heart Rock.” Enjoy a brief hike or horse ride through the lush meadows and mountain rivers before proceeding to Karakol.
Karakol - Karakol, the fourth-largest city in Kyrgyzstan, is located near the eastern tip of Lake Issyk-Kul, approximately 150 kilometers (93 miles) from the Kyrgyzstan–China border and 380 kilometers (240 miles) from the capital, Bishkek. It serves as the administrative capital of the Issyk-Kul Region.
Karakol → Semenovka & Grigorievka Gorges → Bishkek
Karakol - Discover Karakol’s delightful blend of cultures and architecture. Visit the vibrant Dungan Mosque (constructed without a single nail), the wooden Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity, and the lively local market.
Semenovka - On the return trip, journey along the northern shore of Issyk-Kul through these twin alpine gorges. Snow-capped peaks, pine forests, and crystal-clear streams make this area one of Kyrgyzstan’s most scenic landscapes, ideal for picturesque stops and photography.
Kyrchin - Located on the north shore of Lake Issyk-Kul, 40 km east of the resort town of Cholpon-Ata, above the village of Semyonovka, lies one of the most beautiful spots in the Issyk-Kul region – Kyrchyn Gorge (Semyonov Gorge).
The gorge stretches 30 km long. The pristine mountain river of glacier water, Ak-Suu, flows along the gorge’s base, with majestic Tian-Shan spruce adorning the slopes. During spring and summer, the fresh mountain air is infused with the fragrance of aromatic alpine grasses.
Semyonov Gorge is a major tourist attraction in the Kyrgyz Republic and a must-visit for tourists vacationing at Issyk-Kul. In the summer, yurts are set up here, offering visitors the chance to taste traditional Kyrgyz dishes. Horse excursions in the gorge are also available for those who enjoy riding.
