Day 1 – Medellín to San Rafael & Chocolate Experience

Finca El Toche - The journey begins with an 8:00 AM departure from Medellín, leading to a picturesque drive through the eastern Andes. After about 3.5 hours, arrival at Finca El Toche is expected around 11:30 AM, a charming rural estate nestled in nature.

Once settled, a traditional lunch is served at 12:00 PM.

At 2:00 PM, the Chocolate Tour commences, offering a hands-on cultural experience where participants learn about cacao production from bean to bar. This engaging activity lasts approximately 2.5 hours, providing a unique perspective on local customs.

The rest of the afternoon is free for relaxation, enjoying the serene environment, or leisurely exploring the property at one’s own pace.

Day 2 – Birdwatching at El Toche and Waterfall Adventure

Finca El Toche - The day starts early at 6:00 AM with a guided birdwatching walk through productive forest edges and secondary growth.

The morning presents excellent opportunities to spot species such as the White-mantled Barbet, endemic to Colombia, along with the White-bearded Manakin, Crested Oropendola, and flocks of Bronze-winged Parrot.

Mixed flocks may include Flame-rumped Tanager and Blue-necked Tanager, while fruiting trees attract species like the Collared Aracari and the Red-headed Barbet. With some luck, elusive species such as the Great Antshrike or the striking Rufous Motmot might also be observed.

After birdwatching, breakfast is served back at the lodge, followed by relaxed birdwatching at feeders, perfect for close observation and photography.

Post-lunch, the group heads out for a refreshing visit to Charco El Limón, a stunning natural pool surrounded by lush forest. Here, guests can enjoy a soothing swim in crystal-clear waters.

The afternoon concludes with a return to the lodge for rest and a tranquil evening.
