I am a model railroader and I am very interested in the history of the HRR and the HCRwy - this museum is the sole repository of information on these railroads in the world. In addition, the person who was the docent ("Trip") was kind enough to stay late for us to be able to complete our visit and purchase some items in the museum store. Māhalo nui loa ! We thank him very much. And added note: since the train room is not in the best of shape and the railroads represented by the models there are all Mainland lines and none of the trains there are models of the HRR or the HCRwy, I would suggest that it might be an added attraction might be if someone could actually build an accurate model of either the Hilo Railroad or the Hawaii Consolidated Railway (in realistic livery and with correct Hilo Railroad &/or HCRwy logos) – there is still be sufficient space for an N-scale pike. Otherwise the museum is unique and we hope to visit again some time. Aloha from the O'Harrow family in Honolulu.
The woman was very informative thanks
All of my families enjoyed their visit to the museum. Mr. Doug Connors was a great tour guide and adapted it to the toddlers. He was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Many of my parents expressed how much they enjoyed their time there!
