We had a great morning on Kealakekua Bay! When we arrived at Ehu & Kai's they were very efficient, then gave my husband the paperwork to complete while I parked the car (about a block away), by the time I got back they already had the kayak ready and were ready to give me a quick lesson (this was my first time ocean kayaking). We got great directions, and they were great at giving us the landmarks to look for on the way back. The water was beautiful and the snorkeling was amazing. Thanks for a great experience!
The service was great! The staff was helpful and had great suggestions on what to do. Online registration was simple! Thanks!
Good quality, very good prices, friendly and helpful people and flexible, informative and knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

The rental process and equipment was super-smooth. Getting in and out of the cove was a little stressful, what with the waves and rock walls.
We had a wonderful time exploring the Kealakekua Bay with Ehu & Kai Kayaks. The online rental was easy and the kayaks were ready to go when we arrived. The family owned business is efficient and friendly. The paddle over to the Cook Monument offers beautiful views. We were lucky enough to see a pod of dolphins swimming right next to our kayaks! The snorkeling was awesome around the Cook Monument. I highly recommend Ehu & Kai Kayaks. This adventure was definitely a highlight of our trip.
Excellent service and follow up with our mistake.
The Ehu and Kai family/staff was very professional and courteous. They loaded and secured our items on the kayak. We felt very safe and comfortable the entire time. We had an AMAZING experience swimming and snorkeling with Hawaiian spinner dolphins! We will definitely be back!! Mahalo for a once in a lifetime experience♡
Staff was very warm, friendly and welcoming (family business, on their property) and they got our kayak ready to launch right in their family cove and sent us on our way! I booked online the night before to make it easier and to assure we would not have to wait for a kayak. We had a wonderful outing, and they provided us with a very generous kayaking time out (6 hours) compared to other area businesses for the same price at 2 hours . With that, and us not having to transport the kayak, it was a super simple and super fun outing!
They could not have made the experience any easier or more pleasant. Dropped off our gear at the water, kayaks, paddles and dry bags were ready for us. Incredibly laid back and friendly people. The actual kayaking and snorkeling were perfect. Returning the kayak was even easier. I would highly recommend them.
We were so pleased with our experience! We thought the guys working were awesome. They were genuine, kind and super helpful. We will definitely recommend Ehu & Kai based on our experience!!
super friendly and helpful.
We had a lovely experience with Ehu and Kai. They have us warm and friendly service and took care of us. We felt the Aloha.
Easy to book and the crew were all supper friendly and helpful.
Friendly knowledgeable staff
Very well organized and it was a great experience. If you want to kayak Cook you must use Ehu&Kai
Booking online was SO EASY, even when we had to make a late-night change. Everything was ready for us and Rufus was helpful and patient while we loaded up. A great trip!
We had a wonderful time. Things have changed a lot since we were there 7 years ago. We did not think it was okay to have to tow our kayak around with a leash. We think Ehu & Kai should have a license that allows it's customers to tie up in the brackish water area where there is no coral. It is NOT fair that only 3 company's get the opportunity to land at Cook's monument. We had a wonderful trip with great customer service at Ehu & Kai and this is the only company we recommend to explore Kealakekua Bay.
This was our 20th anniversary and Peter made this trip just as amazing as the one we took 10 years ago. Nice, accommodating and just a wonderful person. We will continue to return. Can't say enough about them. Perfect
We rented kayaks a few years ago on a family trip to the Big Island and discovered Ehu & Kai from another family also on vacation. It was a magical experience the first time because we saw dolphins, eels, turtles, and a vast array of other sea life. This vacation was only my wife and I and thanks to technology, we booked the excursion and paid for it all from my iPhone. When we arrived our kayak was already in the water awaiting our adventure. We paid $68 and were gone roughly 4 hours (although we were not given a time limit as to when we needed to return) and the coral, eel, and brilliantly colored fish were there again to greet us. This is absolutely the most inexpensive and fun adventure we had on the Big Island. The guys at Ehu & Kai Kayaks are super professional, very friendly, and offer the best advice on where to go and what to see. We can't wait to get back and explore Kealakekua Bay and The Captain Cook Monument again next year. Mahalo!!!
Ehu and Kai Kayaks was super affordable and convenient and all of the staff was extremely courteous and welcoming. We tried to call the office to reserve kayaks the day before and got voicemail but then found the website and booked online. Ehu and Kayak ended up returning our call (even though we left no voicemail) to ensure we had all the information we needed for our trip. It looks like this is a small family owned business and you can tell the staff really loves what they do. Everyone was kind and welcoming and even made sure we knew where to have the best Poke for lunch afterwards. I highly recommend them to anyone who wants to experience the island by kayak or paddle board as well as meet some kind locals!
Very friendly and hepful crew!! Mahalo
Ehu & Kai are the absolute best - no ONLY - place to have your Kealakekua Bay kayak and snorkel experience. We wanted to kayak at sunrise, and Manano didn't skip a beat in saying he would open up WHENEVER we wanted to go out. But, thanks to American Airlines less than sub-par on-time arrivals, we weren't able to make our 6 am boat launch. BUT, Manano called us 3 times trying to make sure we still got the experience we wanted. I can't say enough about how amazing this company is. Don't rent from anyone else and go here for the kayak/snorkel of a lifetime, and to meet some all around awesome people. We'll be back!
Friendly and helpful, lovely family! Gave us dry bags and tips about where to go!
Really easy to book online. The guys take care of everything you need to get going and the launch location is perfect. We come every time we're in Kona!
Friendly, helpfull, informative, easy
Most of the staff is very friendly. OK price, family-run, local feel.
Easy to reserve kayak online. They have good paddles, PFDs, and a dry bag. Grandma's Little Beach is easy to get in and out of and they helped with that. Kayaks are at beach so no lugging them around. They have the required permit, but still not allowed to land on monument beach so dragging a kayak while swimming is a hassle, but that's the case for all.
