Plan to arrive about 10 minutes early. Park along the road or in the paid lot at Kahaluʻu Beach Park. Cruise over to the north side of Kahaluʻu Bay~walking past the lifeguard towers to the blue & white chapel. That’s the surf entrance! Heads up: Skip the surf shop~we’re not connected with them.

Taught 9-18 year olds! - When weather wasn’t cooperating, Jace rescheduled for another day. We were very happy with his surf teaching skills and attitude.

Just do it!! - Never surfed in your life? Have surfed some but want more guidance? Jace is your guy. I ended up with a solo lesson which was great bc I had never surfed before and knew nothing about it. The location is the perfect spot to learn, as it’s a slightly protected bay so the waves are manageable for a newbie. The bay is a coral reef and there are thousands of beautiful fish just under your board as you paddle, and as the waves build they are also full of fish, which is just the absolute coolest to be literally right above and with the fish. We started w the basics on the sand and then progressed to the water. Jace even provided reef shoes and a rash guard for me to wear (both of which I would never have planned on but were super helpful), and then warm fresh water shower after the lesson and some fresh citrus to help settle my head/stomach bc I got a little seasick. Did the trick. I will def call him again when I come back to Big Island.

Absolutely AMAZING! - My husband and I bought this surf lesson for our son's 15th birthday. We already had a Hawaii vacation planned during this time. The coach was AMAZING.. the ad did say it was a group lesson but my son ended up with a solo lesson. My son says this was his favorite part of our vacation. The 1.5 hours was the perfect amount of time. Cool, very nice, patient and totally down to earth. That is how I would describe coach. If I could give more than 5 stars... I would

Above and Beyond expectations - Super impressed with the whole experience. Our instructor was friendly, courteous, and well-informed. He made the whole experience enjoyable and relaxed helping us all feel at ease about getting into the ocean and surfing for the very first time. We were provided with extras we weren’t expecting, being well taken care of.

1st Time Surfing - If you're looking to catch your first wave, look no further than Jared! He is absolutely the best teacher I’ve encountered. Remarkably, he had our entire group up and surfing by just the second go-round. Jared's approach is perfect; he takes the time to thoroughly explain every technique while remaining incredibly supportive of everyone in the water. His patience and expertise made the whole experience seamless. I would definitely recommend him to anyone wanting to learn and truly experience the joy of surfing. A chill and fun experience! - Jace was a great instructor! He was very helpful for my girlfriend who was just learning how to surf and had very useful advice for me since I had already surfed a few times.
