Great time, great inside staff - Drew was knowledgeable and kept the flight entertaining. Saw the calderas with gasses rising. Saw some waterfalls and a golden Buddha.

Knowledgeable and Epic Tour with Safari Helicopters - Booking a helicopter with Safari Tours was a great idea! Catrina, the host/guide, did a wonderful job getting our small crew of six passengers ready to board the helicopter. Unfortunately, due to the weather conditions that day, we were unable to do our originally booked tour over Volcanoes National Park, but Safari adjusted and gave us the option of seeing the north side of the island. Since everyone in the crew agreed, we put on our flotation devices to prepare for the ride. Andrew, the helicopter pilot, was incredibly poised and knowledgeable as he endeavored through the north side of Maui. He told us the history of the Hawaiian islands, described the different flora and fauna of the island, and flew us to some epics views that most travelers would not be able to see without a helicopter. If you’re feeling a bit wary of which tour to book, Safari is a great option!!!

Exceeded Expectations - Safari tours were super friendly and professional. The weather on the day of our flight was not ideal to see the volcanoes so they offered a tour to Waimanu Valley instead. It exceeded our expectations and Andrew was a fantastic pilot and tour guide. They were also great working with my elderly parents with mobility limitations.

Amazing helicopter ride over volcanoes - Had an amazing experience with the helicopter tour around the Hawai'i island volcanoes. We were blessed with a clear day with no rain around Hilo and so were able to hover over the volcano cone and make flybys of the lava fields and felt really safe. The pilot was entertaining and knowledgeable. One of the best experiences I've had in a National Park.

Spectacular views, but no volcano - The staff and pilot were professional and knowledgeable. For safety reasons, viewing of the volcano was not possible so I was offered a refund, rebooking or taking alternative route over spectacular coastlines and waterfalls. Initially, there were 6 people, but 2 decided to rebook so 4 people took the flight. A husband and wife squeezed into the front seat next to the pilot with view out the front windshield and side door. I sat in the back with a view out the backside window as did the fourth passenger. If passenger list remained at 6, then 2 people would have been stuck in the middle of the back seat with an obscured view. That would have been a disappointing flight.

Not noteworthy. - We knew seeing the volcano erupting from the helicopter trip was a “maybe” both due to the weather and what the volcano was up to the day we happened to book the tour, so we do not hold that against the tour company. It is an hour tour from which it was fun to see the island, caldera, and ocean from the air, but it was not a noteworthy experience. In our opinion, not worth the over 700 dollars we paid for it.

When smiles and fun are optional. - If your choice for safety outranks your desire for fun and value then this is your tour co. However, let’s face it, what helicopter tour isn’t going to be safe? Staff and pilot are sadly punching a time clock w/no interest in making a tour or personal charter anything but dull and boring!

Did not fly into the caldera - Firstly the captain Drew was really nice and we learnt so much. However we did not go into the caldera and did not see the Kilauea eruption which is actively happening because of cloud cover which kind of defeated the whole purpose of this trip. I don’t think this should be labelled as a Volcanoes National Park Safari tour given that we didn’t see it during the best possible time to see it. I’m not honestly sure anyone gets to actually see the volcano. I wish I’d read other reviews before booking. I could have just hiked there.

Disappointed we booked this excursion. - Unfortunately, we paid a lot of money to see the ocean instead of what we paid for, volcanoes. There were four in our family group and each paid $379 to see something we didn't want to see. We are some disappointed and will not recommend this excursion to anyone else. This was not a good start to our vacation to Hawaii.
