The route will cross old bridges through lush jungles, revealing numerous waterfalls. Information about plants, history, and real estate will be shared.
- Rainbow Falls - Photos will be taken at Rainbow Waterfalls, and an optical illusion will be demonstrated.
A stop for iced coconuts will be made if the vendor is present, and Dole Whipped Ice Cream will be enjoyed at Arc of Hilo.
- Kaumana Caves Park - The next destination is a lava tube filled with a rare mineral and olivine, a green gemstone embedded in the ceiling. Photos will be taken inside the lava tube during exploration.
- Hilo - A stop will be made at a location with wild pigs to feed, providing an opportunity for photographs.
- Pahoa - A visit to a fruit stand will allow for sampling of locally grown fruits. Fruit will be purchased, cut up for sampling, and information about the different types will be provided.
- Pahoa - A trip to Pahoa will offer shopping for handmade items from Pahoa, Hawaii. Fresh Fish and Chips or a sandwich at Subway can be enjoyed.
- Leilani Estates - The next stop is fissure 8 for lunch and exploration of a lava field featuring colorful glass known as peacock lava. Photos of the 2018 volcanic eruption that destroyed 780 homes will be taken.
- Pohoiki Black Sand Beach - A drive through a lush jungle will lead to a Black Sand Beach, created by lava flowing from fissure 8 into the ocean in 2018. Whales and spinner dolphins will be sought.
- Kehena Black Sand Beach - A drive along the ocean through tree tunnels will lead to a secret Black Sand Beach. The sand, resembling tiny marbles, tickles the feet when walked upon. Fresh coconut drinks can be purchased, and locals can be met to learn about the culture.
- Kalapana - The journey will continue to the Land of Frozen Fire at the base of the Kilauea Volcano, where lava flowed for 35 years, covering over 400 square miles of lava fields.
A stop at Gary’s house, a renowned photographer, will provide insights into volcanic activities and rare eruption photographs. After the presentation, pictures can be purchased from Gary.
- Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Visitor Center - The tour will proceed to the Macadamia nut farm for free samples, with the option to purchase Macadamia nuts.
- Big Island Candies - A visit to Big Island Candies will offer samples of chocolate, candies, and Kona coffee. The candy-making process can be observed through glass while shopping.
- Hilo Farmers Market - The final stop will be shopping at the farmers market in downtown Hilo, followed by a return to the drop-off point.
