Do this, it's great. - We were staying at the Outrigger and the pool guys got us signed up for this. We walked from the hotel and there were a couple companies all launching for the same reason. Eka had this crazy double Canoe Hawaiian thing and my kids were a little doubtful...but it ended up being really cool and afterwards the kids and parents agreed that the Canoe/Raft experience was what we'd all do again...it was awesome. Once we got to the spot, all the competing companies were working together to draw in the rays and get everyone a great look at them. It was a great time and we saw tons of Manta Rays up close and our guides were really nice and even told a couple "dad / manta ray" jokes. We were off the dock and back in just under an hour. That was a good length of time. Long enough to get a good look, but not freeze in the water.

10/10 recommend! - Had the most amazing experience with Eka Canoe. The canoe ride is unique and a short distance from the rays. Our guide was amazing! She had a way about her that was very calming and we felt very safe. She was very knowledgeable about the manta rays so we also learned a lot. Finding out that Eka uses some money from each trip to fund teaching kids how to sail was a huge bonus! 10/10 would recommend this experience and 10/10 would recommend it with Eka Canoe!

Absolutely AMAZING!!! - Being 64 years old with a bad knee, I questioned whether I should snorkel with the mantas. The Eka staff made me feel so comfortable and provided an experience of a lifetime! Being up close and personal to these beautiful creatures…so close one brushed up against my arm…indescribable!

Magical but very rushed - We booked this tour for my children’s spring break. It was the top thing my son and I wanted to do on our island hop. Originally my daughter didn’t want to go but she decided she wanted to push her nerves aside to try something new so I thought a smaller company would help. The day of I received a text asking to supply shirt sizes for the wetsuits and to fill out waivers. I had received an email earlier in the week asking the same and I had done so. I hear then the check-in time of 6:45.( tour at 7). We arrived at couple minutes before that but parking was mobbed so my husband dropped us off. I was asked for fill out waivers (for the third time). The check in person was very nice. But it began to feel really rushed. Im putting the wetsuits on my kids, organizing our gear (I brought our own snorkels so the kids would be more comfortable). As all this is going on they’re loading the boat. I had assumed we’d have an instruction meeting all together as a group or a chance to adjust our masks etc. But the feel was go go go. It felt stressful. My husband shows up around 6:48 so we are the last to board the canoe. So now my family is split up about as far as possible. My husband and son top right of the boat, my daughter and I on the back. As we’re sitting and moving onward they pass out the gear and give their talk. (We left ten minutes early). In the back where my daughter and I were sitting it was pitch black. I could hardly see anything to adjust the straps on my masks or help her. It’s dark, raining, cold, we’re rushed. And my daughter is nervous. The other side of the boat gets off first. In order to do so if you’re short you have to really push yourself up to swing your legs to the lip of the canoe. My daughter gets in and I’m trying to help her but there was too much Defog they sprayed in my mask. I had no time to really scramble to fix it being 1/1 with my almost 8 year old. We did see a manta (with my head above the water) before she gave up. The woman guide was really sweet and helped us swim back to the boat to get on. The guide on the boat was really informative about the mantas while we were waiting for the tour to conclude. My boys both said the time in the water was enough (they were freezing) but over all I felt the whole experience was a frenzied rush. I think things would have turned out differently with pre-tour meeting in the light, equipment check then, allowing families to sit together and maybe at least a flashlight on the boat to gear up. We live over on Oahu where my daughter swims regularly in pools and the ocean so swimming skill wasn’t the issue. She does hope to try again some day but I wouldn’t recommend this one for anyone that’s a bit nervous, has any mobility issues or anyone under 10.
