Volcano Tour - Tour was very good. Derrick was an excellent guide. Explained everything very well. Safe driver. Van very comfortable. Provided plenty of restroom breaks. Restaurant dinner was very good. Could have used some mustard or mayonnaise on sandwiches for picnic lunch. Could have used a second video on ride home. Otherwise it was an awesome experience.

Just do it, not in your Nikes, but in a comfortable Sprinter Van - Get ready for a fun adventure. I received a call from Laurie, I call her the office queen, who had me in stitches as she took care of business about our meals and pick up information. I was disappointed that she couldn’t have made the trip with us. Professional with some old fashioned humor thrown in. Thanks for your help Laurie . (Please forgive me if I got your name wrong, old people have lousy memories 😁) It is a long drive from Kona on a winding road. My brother had always driven and didn’t see much but the road. This was an entirely different experience for all of us. Getting some history and backstories that only a resident can bring had us looking at things differently. Lunch at the coffee farm was tasty and then on our way. The bakery stop was disappointing because of the remodeling and I’m sorry for the people who hadn’t been there before. It has always smelled so good with yummy treats. Apparently Grant had notified the turtles to show up at Black Sand beach. And they sure did, I can relate to their laying in the sand relaxing. What a sight. We had visited the state park near the volcano several times, but this was the best trip ever. Thank you Grant for that experience. Pointing out where to look and what we were seeing. . It added another layer to our volcano experience. Unfortunately Grant couldn’t make the volcano explode while we were there, but enjoyed it on the Two Pineapple website 48 hours later. Dinner was good and the drinks I paid for were worth it. But the ‘surprise’ dessert, maybe we should have asked for the dessert menu instead of the drink menu. But that wasn’t the reason for our trip. The reason was for an experience we hadn’t really had before driving ourselves. Information we probably only absorbed half of that was presented with facts we sure hadn’t researched. And lucky Grant didn’t have to research because he’s lived it and was gracious to share. Make the reservation, we sure were not disappointed.

Informative and left with a great experience of the big island - Our tour guide Paul was amazing from the moment we arrived throughout the entire trip. He was extremely knowledgeable. We were in a group of 9 which was perfect. Length of trip was good. Paul did a great job at letting us know the schedule and what to expect. Overall a great experience.

Paul went out of his way to accommodate and educate. We just completed a Smithsonian river cruise-loved Paul’s edu cati - Fantastic experience, wonderful guide, delux accommodation and great food. Our guide Paul was able to accommodate a disparate group’s needs

Rainy but enjoyable - The weather didn’t cooperate and we caught Kilauea between episodes, but we enjoyed our day with Thia who taught us everything we needed to know about volcanoes

Nice tour, good driver/guide, pity it was overcast and we saw only a smidgeon of lava - Just a few comments… Plus points 1. Nice tour, good driver/guide (Derek), comfortable van, relaxed vibe 2. Restaurant meal was good although the alcoholic drinks were expensive and the service was unexceptional 3. Walking through the amazing lava tube at nighttime Minus points 1. The volcano chose to be pretty inactive on the day we visited 2. The sky was overcast so we didn’t get dark-sky star viewing 3. Unresponsive customer service from the tour company prior to the trip - outsourced to the Philippines, it seems Overall good, but we’d probably hire a car and do it ourselves next time

A great island overview, not quite deluxe - Derek was an excellent guide- never rushed, and very knowledgeable. He went above and beyond to ensure we got to see the volcano erupt, even leading us through the woods at night in the rain to a private lookout. So so grateful we got to travel through the park with him! Outside of Derek’s great work, itinerary was great and van is lux. And $300 is pretty good for a 12hr day including 2 meals. We were disappointed the tour did not have all that was promised… no hot towel service, no all day snacks/drinks (just water). Lunch was an inedible sandwich and a bag of chips, and the 3 course restaurant dinner was a small house salad, an okay entree, and a slice of white cake. Restaurant also didn’t overlook park/volcanoes, though they didn’t say it would.

Vey poor - Very poor! Our excursion was cancelled by the company on January 5th. Per their policy we were entitled to a full refund. 5 weeks later we have not received any refund. Been told it’s under review. Paid $1180.24 4 months in advance. Unfortunately being forced to seek legal action for non-payment. Will not recommend ever going with this company. I paid in good faith and expected to be treated the same.
