More than a tour! - If you are looking to experience the beauty of the big island coupled with rich cultural stories, you will not find a better tour than this. Our guide, Kimo, shared the history of the island as well as his own life as a native Hawaiian. He was the best part of our family vacation and made every moment memorable. When he learned that our daughter's birthday was coming soon, he asked her to pick out a gift at the Volcano House. When we assured him we were a family that enjoyed experiences instead of things, but appreciated the gesture, he added an experience onto the end of our trip, just for her. The many stops and cultural knowledge we gained was made even better by how affordable it was, and knowing we were supporting a female native owned company. We cannot recommend Kimo of Malahini Tours more!

Wonderful excursion! - We had a wonderful excursion and saw many beautiful places! Our driver and tour guide, Kimo, was polite and friendly, and he was very knowledgeable about each stop along the way. It was a great excursion!

Incredible experience! Incredible tour guide! - We had a fantastic experience! Dan was our tour guide and was a wealth of knowledge. Growing up on the island, he shared with us an immense amount of information about the history of the island, the culture, and so much more. He took the time to explain everything at every stop, answering all of our questions amazingly. He was patient, laid back, kind, and made our anniversary trip even that much more special! I highly recommend this tour, with this company.

Experience of a lifetime! - My cousin and I were very excited to see Volcanos National Park! When we started out (small group of 8 - perfect size!), Kimo informed us that the volcano was erupting and we should head straight there before the park was closed. It was an amazing experience, complete with tephra falling from the sky. The park was now closed and Kimo took us to the Mauna Loa factory, the black sand beach and Rainbow falls, teaching us Hawaiian history and culture along the way.
It was a wonderful tour! Mahalo!

We liked Kimo - We got the ultimate Kimo « therapy « . Learned a ton not just about the Volcanoes but also about Hilo, the big Island and Hawaii, more broadly. If other Grover/guides are anything like Kimo, you are in for a real treat

Hawai’ian Volcano National Park Hilo - We had a wonderful excursion to Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park from Hilo with Norwegian Cruise Line. Our tour guide, Mark, was knowledgeable, respectful, and made the experience very enjoyable.
There were four couples in a comfortable luxury Mercedes-Benz van, which made the tour feel personal and relaxing. It was amazing to see the changing landscapes—from lava fields and desert-like terrain to lush rainforest.
They provide a picnic lunch, water, walking sticks and other gear.
I would definitely recommend this excursion. 🌋🚐

Will never use TripAdvisor again! Rent a car and drive yourself! - We flew into the big island and waited to be picked up, but never were. We called several times and messaged trying to get more details but they were very vague. The guide from the tour company was rude on the phone to us. It turned out we were at the wrong airport. Not being from Hawaii, we don’t realize there were 2 airports on the island. There was mention of Hilo being an airport in the fine print but we didn’t see it. We reached out ahead of time and tried to get more details on pick up but again very vague. TripAdvisor was NO help and the tour company was awful. Recommend just renting a car and going yourself. Definitely not worth the money they are charging. Had they actually given specific details this could have been figured out ahead of time.
