Along the way, historical insights about the area are shared, with a 15-minute stop at the lava tube. The adventure continues on a thrilling 4WD lava flow to a scenic lookout point, offering more historical context and excellent photo opportunities, with another 15-minute stop. The journey proceeds through an ancient Kiawe forest on a dirt trail, leading to a vast lava flow at Paakea Bay, where a 20-30 minute break under a shade tree allows for lunch or snacks. Next, the tour heads to Ka’alualu Bay to view green sand, a perfect spot for photos, with a 10-minute stop. The tour then includes a cliff drive along the ocean to Pulehua Island, where a hike onto a peninsula reveals green sea turtles and tropical fish, offering the best photo opportunity of the tour. There is a chance to spot Mr. Blue, the resident Parrot fish, during the 15-minute stop. The tour concludes with a return trip up the trail, followed by a clean-up with towels and a hose.

The Southpoint area is where the first Hawaiians arrived on the Big Island. It’s beautiful, warm, sunny, and occasionally windy. You’ll traverse rugged lava flows and grassy fields, ancient Kiawe forests, and encounter all the natural flora and fauna of The Big Island. Enjoy the stunning aqua coastline with crashing waves that are perfect for photos, especially when the surf is up! If you’re on a winter tour, you might even spot a whale or two. You’ll see colorful tropical fish and green sea turtles from the rugged lava cliffs as you gaze into Shark Bay. We also offer private family tours, so book in advance to ensure availability for you and your family. Soak up some sun and have some fun! Let’s go! The ATVs you’ll be riding are top-of-the-line CF MOTO Cforce Quads, featuring power steering and automatic shifting. These ATVs are the Cadillacs of their kind.

Go to the end of Ka'alualu Rd. where the pavement ends keep going for aprox 300 feet. First gray gate on the left. address is 94-1400. Go thru the gate follow gravel driveway to the end. Be there at 11:30. NO public restrooms. Stop at the Punaluu bakery for restrooms before arrival. :Closed shoes .

Last minute booking, best booking! - Last minute booking, best booking!!
Our first day in the Big Island and we were overwhelmed with options. We booked at 5a and Anna called to confirm we hadn’t messed up! She gave us pointers and we got to her in great time. Brought snacks as suggested and were ready to go early! The tour ended up just being us and Anna and it was great! We got to stop and see lava tubes, learn about the land, get to the isolated beaches and watch the sea turtles swim! It was drizzling the slightest bit which made for limited dust, bonus perk!! Would we recommend, ABSOLUTELY!!

Want To Explore - ATV It - My first recommendation is for the owners of Big Island Southside ATV Tours to update the description of this tour. It does not do the experience of this excursion we had (you will have) any justice. For 3 hours we seemed to be transported to a place where time simply did not matter. Our guide Anna shared her wealth of knowledge about the history, vegetation, and culture of the Big Island. The energy we felt from her as she shared her personal stories made this adventure much more impactful as we could see firsthand her words come to life.
We all know when you work for something the fruits of your labor are that much sweeter. Oh, how this was an amazingly sweet experience. We hit the lottery on the day we toured. There were 3 of us so it felt like a personal tour that Anna had been waiting for to take someone on. We had to work to see the real Hawaii, this unique opportunity gave us a chance to explore with intention. The extremely uneven terrain was rugged, a mixture of large holes, lava rocks, dirt, gravel, sharp turns, up the mountain, down the mountain, and breath taken views. We stopped several times along the way to learn and immerse ourselves in parts of the Big Island we only say in pictures or read about. This is truly an offroad and off the beaten path tour. We explored areas of the Big Island we would have never been able to on our own. The icing on the cake was when it started to rain while we were on the mountain and we got to see another side of the Big Island.
What was equally impressive is how Anna was able to accommodate all 3 of us. My wife and son are aggressive and very adventurous; I am low to moderate adventurous. Somehow, she gave them the thrill they wanted and needed while allowing me to enjoy myself at my pace. So, I would recommend this tour without any hesitation. It was worth our time and more.
This is an experience for everyone. Anna was the consummate professional – focused on safety and ensuring we were enjoying ourselves in her home, the Big Island. Oh, and she is very funny!

Oh so fun!! - We just got back from the Big Island, and this tour was the highlight of our stay! Anna is a great guide - so friendly and had such interesting stories to share with us about island legends, history, and the land. There were 8 of us + Anna - 4 in our party, 2 teen girls and parents, and we rode on 2 ATVs. This was a perfect set up for us as the girls had never ridden by themselves and the terrain was a little challenging, but oh so fun! The stops we made along the way were beautiful, and we even saw colorful fish and turtles. Highly recommend!

Beautiful Day on the ATV tour with Sweet Anna - Anna was a fabulous guide. She was very sweet, intuitive and educated us about ATV safety, flowers and fun facts about the Big Island. There were 5 of us ranging from 18-55. We all loved it but agreed we wished it could have been an additional hour, 4 hours instead of 3 hours, so we could ride longer on the coastline.The beach views are beautiful and we did get to see some sea turtles! It is a pretty bumpy ride down to the beach, and you will get dirty! For the women, I would recommend wearing a sports bra or a good supportive bra for more comfort while riding. Make sure to pack an extra set of clothes/shoes to change in to if you plan on doing other things after your ATV tour.

I've tried a few atv... - I've tried a few atv places on the big island & this is the best. Instead of going in circles on a track you actually follow a long trail down to a beautiful secluded beach.

Exceptional! 🤙 - Anna is the bombdiggity.com! She was extremely informative about the history and plant life! We saw turtles and beautiful views. The ride was fun! Prepare to get dirty. We had so much fun and we hope to see Anna again!

We were the only 2 on... - We were the only 2 on this ride which made the experience that much more fun for us and our guide Ann. We had a blast riding the lava flows and saw amazing views and sea turtles!! Would highly recommend

Great Experienced but... - We were the only ones doing ATV on the date we selected hence the tour was a more personalised experience.
Nathan was very informative, relax vibe, and we enjoyed thoroughly all the spots he took us, the beach side looking at sea turtles was amazing and remote. We had a great time especially knowing that the areas visited are so remote that only the locals would know.
Only thing we would remark is the price that TripAdvisor charge for this - we would say not worth the money. But the operator itself did a good job.
