Crazy fun! - This is a really well run, commercial operation and the tour guide is casual, friendly and comprehensively informative about all aspects of raising abalone and the seaweed they feed them. Additionally, there are 'by-catch' marine animals to see, that come into the tanks from the water pumps and a delicious tasting of steamed abalone and seaweeds at the end of the tour. If that isn't enough abalone for you, they have a food truck that serves it in at least a half dozen ways.

Awesome - Up close and personal. Small group tour. Very informative, Carlos knows everything there is to know about Abalone and many other sea creatures I wish they would bring back the Original Abslone TeeShirt design. Very unique.

An hour well spent! - Excellent tour Our guide Carlos is very knowledgeable about sea life and history of area. I thought that this might be just a good experience for children, but I had a blast holding the abalone and watching them come out of their shells. Educational and fun. A true Hawaii experience.

A Surprisingly Great Time! - My boyfriend and I were looking for an affordable last minute activity to do before leaving Kona. The Abalone Farm Tour came up, and I had seen it on previous searches. The description fit our needs to a tee, so we decided to go for it and do it! It ended up being a fantastic decision! The staff were so friendly, and our tour guide was knowledgeable, professional, and courteous. It was fascinating learning about abalone and interacting with them. We also got to taste abalone, and I liked it better than mussels. I thought it would be interesting, and it ended up being an even better time than I thought it would be! We learned so much and had such a fun time! Moreover, I think even kids would enjoy this! Lastly, it's close to the Kona airport, so it's a great way to squeeze in one last experience on your way out of the Big Island. This business recently changed ownership, and it's a great, worthy small business to support. I highly recommend this unexpected jewel of place and experience - you will have such a wonderful time!

For curious abalone lovers and non lovers - Who knew that there is a large abalone farm in Big Island, only farm growing abalone in US. We learned a lot about the life cycle of abalone. Why there are holes on the shell? How many holes on the shell? How to find the female and male abalone? If you want to know the answer, you must visit. They are only fed special sea weed which we, human can eat and glow in a runing sea water. I think they are the cleanest food we can eat. The tour comes with a grilled abalone to taste. If that is not enough, there is a food truck with many kinds of food with abalone. Table and shade are provided. We had a wonderful lunch.

Great tour. - As an East Asian, abalone has always been considered one of the most expensive seafood delicacies, though I never really understood why. This tour was incredibly interesting and informative—it gave me a much deeper appreciation for abalone and the reasons behind its high value. I truly enjoyed the experience and learned a lot.
