Visitors can enjoy a stroll along the penguin beach and observe these delightful creatures up close.
- Hamilton Russell Vineyards - It would be a missed opportunity to pass through one of the country’s premier wine regions without stopping. The Hemel-en-Aarde wine region, situated near the sea and at a higher altitude than the Cape Winelands, offers the ideal climate for cool-climate grape varieties. This results in wines with subtle, crisp acidity, a lighter body, and vibrant fruit flavors. The valley is renowned for producing some of the finest Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays in the country. A wine tasting experience at Hamilton Russell is sure to impress.
- Hermanus - Following the wine tasting, the tour proceeds to Hermanus, a quaint coastal town known as South Africa’s whale watching capital. Whales can be observed from the whale trail along the shores between June and November each year. Hermanus is also celebrated as one of South Africa’s gastronomy towns, offering a perfect spot for lunch before the tour continues southeast towards Elim.
- Elim - From Hermanus, the journey leads to the picturesque village of Elim. Established in 1824 by German settlers, it was the third Moravian station near Cape Town, and little has changed over the years. The village features rows of whitewashed, thatch-roofed cottages lining the streets, all leading to the church. Guests will have the opportunity to explore and visit the town’s small rose garden.
- Cape Agulhas - Located three hours southeast of Cape Town City is Cape Agulhas, the southernmost tip of the African continent. Here, the warm Indian Ocean meets the chilly Atlantic. The rugged coastline is home to over 21,000 wetland and seabirds of various species. Known as the Serengeti of the seas due to its diverse marine life, it is also part of the Cape Floral Kingdom, the richest floral kingdom in the world, with about 2,000 different plant species, over 100 of which are endemic. Visitors will have ample time to explore the coastal plains and visit the Cape Agulhas lighthouse, the second oldest in South Africa. Climbing to the top of the lighthouse offers a panoramic view of the town and the museum below.
