MORE THAN JUST A MEMORIAL VISIT: While half-day tours of Sachsenhausen are common, specialized tours are rare. This tour offers 3 hours on-site with a WWII historian, providing ample time to explore areas often overlooked by other tours, including the Soviet special camp that operated until 1950.
WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE: The tour begins outside the camp at the SS Inspectorate, the building responsible for administering the entire Nazi camp system, including Auschwitz, Dachau, Buchenwald, and Ravensbrück. Unlike most tours that bypass this building, this tour starts there.
Participants will walk through the Tower A gate, under the infamous words “Arbeit Macht Frei,” and visit the shoe testing track where prisoners were forced to march 40km daily. The tour includes Station Z, featuring the execution trench, gas chamber, and crematorium. Additionally, visitors will see the Soviet special-camp memorial and learn about the post-1945 history that is rarely covered by other tours.
