• Kreuzberg - The tour begins at “Kotti,” a central hub in Kreuzberg. The guide will provide a brief introduction, offering insights into Kreuzberg’s history, lifestyle, and culture.

Kreuzberg originated as a typical working-class neighborhood in the mid-19th century. Residents lived in large building complexes, some located in the fifth or sixth courtyard. At Oranienstraße, we explore these areas and imagine life in those times, when fresh air was scarce, and many rented an 8-hour stay on a mattress rather than a full apartment or room.

Naturally, the working class predominantly held (radical) left-wing views, leading Kreuzberg to become a neighborhood known for its critical stance and frequent demonstrations, often escalating. The guide will recount “The mother of all street fights,” and we’ll visit SO 36, a legendary music club where anarchistic Punk and New Wave bands thrilled audiences in the 1970s and 80s, challenging the government and police.

We will explore “Görli Park,” Kreuzberg’s “Central Park,” and learn about Berlin’s Jack the Ripper! After two hours, you’ll have a new perspective on Kreuzberg. Before parting ways, we’ll enjoy a traditional Berliner Schnaps together. You’ll then be ready to embark on your next adventure in Kreuzberg, whether diving into its renowned nightlife or unwinding after this enlightening city tour.
