The history is amazing! Thanks for preserving so much of it. We loved our visit. :)
The home and its history were were lovely, and Clarence was an excellent host and storyteller. We took advantage of and enjoyed every exhibit.
An exceptionally good tour and guide. Refreshingly uncommercial attraction. More benches by the waterside, painting of the rest rooms and perhaps a small coffee bar would be great, but don’t do any more; that would lose the charm of this beautiful place. Thanks again so much
The guide Shane was extremely knowledgeable of the history
Tour guide was friendly and well informed. We learned a lot and enjoyed the tour very much!
When we arrived and checked in, we we treated very friendly and professionaly. Our tour guide made our experience very pleasurable, and he was very informative and entertaining! We thoroughly enjoyed our time spent at the Berkley Plantation, and we have already recommended Berkley Plantation to our friends!
Experienced, friendly, and knowledgeable staff and beautiful place
The tour guide did a very nice job of sharing some historical facts that were new to us and quite interesting. Would like to have been able to see the upstairs as well. Thank you!
Excellent tour guide
The tour guide was well-informed, thorough and had a with a sense of humor which helped a lot with 4 kids. We spent more time exploring and discovering the property than in the house but that was kind of perfect for our group. I’ve taken guests there twice in the last month. It’s going to be my “go to” tour because the amount of history that occurred on that property and in the house is mind blowing.
A very significant historic site with well-preserved, intact buildings. The three buildings are architecturally unique and the grounds are vast and lovely. We enjoyed the tour of the main house's first floor and basement and the deep historical significance of the family lineage. Our guide was engaging, clear about separating fact from fiction and an encyclopedia of information regarding all aspects of the tour.
Our tour guide was fantastic!
I thought the docents were so well versed in the history of the plantation as well as the area. It made our trip so interesting. We were lucky enough to attend on the day they were celebrating the first Thanksgiving which was very fun. I would recommend the plantation to anyone visiting the area.
This is the second time we took the tour, this time with a different guide and with our relatives. Both times our guides were humorous, witty and very knowledgeable. We learn more each time we go, and plan on going again. We are so blessed to live here and to be able to visit on a regular basis. This is a sacred historic area, and Berkeley Plantation adds to its rich story. Thanks for maintaining the integrity of this special place!
The guide was very good. Lots of interesting facts and stories.
Our guide was very knowledgeable and a great story teller. Thank you!
My trip to Berkley blew me away. My fiancee and I both live near Berkley Plantation in Hopewell,VA. We initially took a tour of the plantation as a prospective wedding venue. We had no idea how much history was made at the Berkley Plantation. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgable, even after the tour he would answer questions about the plantation. It was an incredible visit and I'm sure we will be doing another.
I wasn’t able to go inside because of an injury but was able to hear the outside conversation and found it very interesting. The grounds were very well kept up and just breathtaking.
We loved the Berkeley Plantation. The guided tour was very informative and interesting. The garden and grounds were lovely and captivating. We have recommended this to many friends who have visited Williamsburg and will continue to recommend.

Thank you for keeping a beautiful bit of Americans shared history open and 'living'.
The tour guide was great and gives the impression that she loves what she do. The grounds and gardens were well kept with nice views of the James River. However, was hoping there was more about the slave life on the plantation. Perhaps when Archaeologists explore and find more we will.
Great tour, beautiful house and grounds
beautiful house and grounds - interesting history !
Every American needs to visit this historically significant home! Clarence gave us a superb tour... ❤️
Beautiful home and grounds... definitely a worthwhile stop!
We all enjoyed Melissa's tour.
I would have enjoyed more guided tour to the kitchen and explanation or stories as to what we were looking at.
Our guide was fantastic. The buildings, grounds, setting were spectacular. Highlight of the day......
All the staff we wonderful! The tour guide was very knowledgeable and was happy to answer our questions. Highly recommend a visit! If you love history you will love this place!
Guided tour by Clarence was full of historical info. The grounds and setting are beautiful!
The docent was very knowledgeable and helpful.
We felt the tour was very informative - packed with great information! We would have loved to have toured the upper floors of the main house, so we hope they will be open the next time we visit. A good piece of advice to visitors would be to wear closed-toe shoes for the tour of the grounds, as there are pebble walkways that do not bode well with sandals.
The people were friendly the guide was delightful funny informative the grounds were beautiful and well Kemp’s. The entire experience was wonderful I want to go back and spend more time in the. As Emmet-great stuff down tbere
The tour was very well done, we really enjoyed the guide and his vast knowledge regarding the property. It was enlightening as well as light hearted and fun to listen too. We enjoyed being able to tour the other buildings on our own and see the animals and the sites. It was a perfect way to spend Independence day.
We had a lovely and very educational afternoon at Berkeley. The house tour was great.
Beautiful property, home, great tour guide, films, rich history.
Our tour guide was a peach! Cant remember her name but she was very warm and friendly. Also very knowledgeable. We loved everything about our visit. I was there about 25 years ago and noted some of the info had changed over the years. I take this as a positive and am pleased that the research is ongoing and accuracy is important. Thanks for the visit back in time!
Great learning about our ancestors! Clarence was a wonderful guide
