- Byfjorden - Byfjorden, also known as the Cityfjord, features water depths ranging from approximately 5 to 350 meters and frames the city of Bergen along its waterfront. This natural landmark is visible from much of the city, nestled between the seven mountains that encircle Bergen. The 15-kilometer (9.3 mi) long fjord separates the island of Askøy from mainland Bergen, passing just north of the city on the mainland.
- Salhusfjorden - The Salhusfjord stretches 4 kilometers long and reaches depths of up to 500 meters, located between Bergen and Alver Municipality. The Nordhordland Bridge spans this fjord. It derives its name from the village area of Salhus, where an inn, known as a sáluhus, existed in the early 12th century. This area served as a transport hub for Nordhordland and was a small market town. It became one of the first industrialized locations when a hosiery manufacturer was established there in 1859.
- Nordhordlandsbrua - The Nordhordland Bridge is a remarkable landmark just north of Bergen, spanning the wide Salhusfjord. Opened in 1994, it features a slender cable-stayed span combined with a long floating section, making it one of the world’s most unique bridge designs. As travelers cross, they are treated to sweeping views of fjords, mountains, and islands—showcasing the best of Western Norway. The bridge replaced the former ferry link and now serves as a vital connection between Bergen and the Nordhordland region, providing both efficient transport and a memorable glimpse of Norwegian engineering and coastal beauty.
- Osterfjorden - Osterfjord is one of three fjords surrounding the island of Osterøy. It runs along the municipal border of Lindås and Osterøy municipalities. The fjord begins at the Romarheimsfjorden and flows westward for 27 kilometers (17 mi) before ending near the village of Knarvik at the confluence of four fjords: Osterfjorden, Radfjorden (to the north), Sørfjorden (to the south), and Salhusfjorden (to the west). Osterfjorden is generally about 1 to 3 kilometers (0.62 to 1.86 mi) wide, with its deepest point reaching 639 meters (2,096 ft) below sea level.
- Mostraumen - This canalized river features tidal water extending deep into the Osterfjord. The stream is approximately 600 meters long and between 50 and 60 meters wide at its narrowest point. Mostraumen was canalized (dredged) around 1913.
