- Pergamon Ancient City - Bergama (Pergamum) was once a prominent cultural hub and remains one of Turkey’s most remarkable archaeological sites. Situated on a hill above the modern town, the Acropolis features the remnants of the renowned library, a steep and impressive theater, the temples of Trojan and Dionysus, the monumental altar of Zeus, the Demeter, a gymnasium spread across three terraces, and the Agora. In the town, there is a site of a temple dedicated to Serapis, which became one of the Seven Churches of the Apocalypse and was later transformed into a basilica by the Byzantines. The Asclepion, located southwest of the lower city, was a sanctuary dedicated to Asclepius, the god of health.
