The perfect sunrise hike - This was the perfect hike. My Guide was Nusan. He is the best guide you can get. Speaks fluent English and has a lot of knowledge. My advice is to take a hike with Nusan!

An Exceptional Guide for Mt. Sibayak – Highly Recommended! - I’ve climbed 5–6 volcanoes across Indonesia and have always chosen to hire a guide for peace of mind, local knowledge, and safety. For my Mt. Sibayak hike, I was fortunate to have Nusan as my guide, and he truly stood out compared to my previous experiences. Nusan speaks fluent English, which made communication effortless. He is not only knowledgeable about the mountain’s trails, animals, plants, geology, and history but also enthusiastic and genuinely passionate about guiding. That rare combination made the climb more enjoyable and informative. He also shared interesting stories about local culture, language and the natural environment. What I appreciated most was his friendly personality and professionalism — it felt less like being led by a guide and more like hiking with a very capable friend. I really liked chatting with him. If you’re considering to climb Mt. Sibayak, and hot spring + waterfall afterwards, I highly recommend choosing them. He and the driver - Gabriel made the experience safe and smooth.

Mt Sibayak hike guided by Mr. Nusan - The hike of Mt Sibayak is more than worth the price, beautiful and excellent experience. What makes this trip memorable is the expert guide Mr. Nusan who communicates well in good English, describing the beauty of Mt Sibayak as well as the legends about this dormant volcano. Being a responsible guide, safety is at the top of his priority, which made me enjoy the hike and not worry about getting lost or making missteps. He also took beautiful Instagrammable photos of me using his DSLR camera. His driver buddy Mr. Gabriel drove me safely from and back to Medan. If only I can give 10 Star rating, I would gladly give 10 stars to Mr. Nusan. I'm already planning my next activity at Lake Toba and get him as the guide.

Nice experience and trip - A great trip with Nusan as guide, a great mountain enthusiast, which helped make the day even more enjoyable. Although it was quite a cloudy day, the views and the excursion were very nice.

Amazing Mount Sibayak Sunrise Hike - We had an amazing experience. We were able to decide how much time we wanted to spend at every stop of our journey (Sibayak, hot springs, and the waterfall area). The view from Mount Sibayak is amazing! Hot springs were nice after the hike, and than was the observation deck over the waterfall and the lake. Nusan is a very knowledgeable guide and shares a lot of stories about the area and other hiking spots in the country, and is also very attentive to our needs during the trip. Our driver Gabriel, was very polite, punctual, and drove carefully. Recommended!

Superb Guide! 100000% recommend - It was a great hike with Nusan and Gabrielle! They were very professional, very passionate and knowledgeable! Nusan knew the terrain very well and even cooked us personalized cup noodle and coffee at the top of Mt Sibayak! (And even took fantastic photos with his DSLR!) He also speaks good English and it was very enjoyable with him as our guide through the hike! Fun, enjoyable, comfortable - The Guide, Nusan was very knowledgeable and passionate on Indonesia many beautiful parks. From mountains, waterfalls, rocks and jungle treks. He was very present and enthusiastic throughout the tour, making the whole trip very enjoyable. He was also an easy going person, eager and quick to learn about cultures around the world. He was also on time and flexible with the itinerary and he knows where are the nearest spot to relieve ourselves and finding the cleanest toilet nearby. He is also a skilled photographer who knows which spots to take better shots and was patient to guide us. Our driver, Gabriel was also a very easy going and pleasant person. He drove really well in all the terrain that we had to drive through. We felt safe and comfortable throughout. He and Nusan made sure that we were kept updated the night before our trip and was early on the pick up time. We enjoyed our trip through and through and are looking forward to possible future trips with them!

Not worth the guide if being done during the day - I will caveat this review up front that I think this tour would be more impactful if we had taken the sunrise hike but instead we were picked up at 7am and began the tour at 9am due to our schedule. Overall my wife and I were underwhelmed and generally dissasified by this tour, especially considering the cost. Across the three sites visited we did not feel the guide provided much guidance or value - for two of the three sites he did not accompany us at all and just left us without explanation. The schedule and timings were not clearly communicated for the day trip on trip adviser or by the guide himself. Throughout the trip our guide offered no warmth to check in on whether we needed a comfort break, lunch or even if we had any questions.  It would be safe to assume full day tours would have a lunch break built into their itineraries but It took my wife and I asking when we were having lunch at 4pm basically at the end of the tour (9hours into the day without eating) before this was even considered by our guide. He seemed surprised that we would want to eat (bearing in mind it was not Ramadan). When I asked if he was not hungry he laughed and said he had eaten at one of the earlier stops. We shared that we were confused why no lunch break was built into the itinerary he shrugged his shouldered and offered no apology or remorse. The place he eventually took us for lunch was extremely expensive.  The 'trek' up mount Sibayak did not require a guide. The trail is very clear (in the day) and extremely easy, taking less than 3 hours to complete with a break at the top. There were also a lot of other people completing the hike even on a weekday, so there would be people to help with directions. We had to prompt the guide to give us information about basic things. The only value he provided was making us a cup of tea and taking our picture at the start which both make more sense when doing a sunrise hike. If you plan to do this during the day you could follow a route on hiking apps like alltrail.  The hot springs stop was pleasant however a bit of a strange activity to do in afternoon heat. Again something that makes sense if do the sunrise hike and then go in the morning when it's called The waterfall itself was impressive and had amazing views, however as our guide did not explain where we were or even come with us on the hike down, we only found out we were at lake toba after we prompted him while driving away. He was too busy talking about cannibal tribes (we still hadn't eaten at this point - see the irony). The real star of the tour was our driver, Gabriel, who was knowledgeable, polite and friendly. He ensured that we were always comfortable, and drove for the entirety of the day. Due an early start and a traffic jam on our way home, he must have been working for almost 20 hours! We are extremely grateful to Gabriel for his kindness.  We would recommend that others book a private driver for the day (we obviously recommend Gabriel!!) to take you to these sights as a guide was entirely unnecessary.
