Next level experience - Amazing! Top of my bucket list is swimming with sea turtles and I got to swim with at least 4. Also swam with manatee, sharks, lobsters, and a ton of gorgeous fish I haven't even seen in an aquarium. The reef with the bright blue coral and sea fans was so beautiful! Josh and Elvis were great guides!

Great day Snorkelling! Best ever! - Brilliant full on day with Josh (Joss?) and Elvis. Lots of sites, each different, each good in own way, good time allotted to snorkelling. Would definitely do again. My best ever snorkelling day tour, and i have done quite a few.

Great snorkeling experience in incredible nature - We were incredibly lucky and really saw so many animals and even managed to swim with the manatees. We were well looked after and our guides knew all the names of the animals. The only thing that irritated me a bit is that the same joke was made over and over again. That wasn't funny anymore in the long run. The food was delicious!

Great snorkeling excursion - Great overall tour, got to see everything that Belize has to offer. From dolphins, turtles, sharks, stingrays & so much more. This is my second excursion & it was better than the first, so I can't wait for my third. 😀

CHEESE WE IN BELIZE! - Had a great experience! Brought my girlfriend for her 21st birthday and we were able to see all the animals listed! Thank you for the great experience and we highly recommend Josh and Elvis as your tour guide. We aren’t the best swimmers but they took care of us.

Fabulous reef experience. Video excellent but took a bit of chasing up to get it. - We had a great day out at the reef with the lovely Captain Chris at the helm.
The reef is stunning and we saw all promised sea creatures and more.
A fabulous experience.
Lose one star for not getting videos but after some email prompting they eventually came through. The footage is very good indeed and a wonderful reminder of a spectacular wonder of nature.

Great Wildlife, but room for inprovement - This tour is a nice way to see a lot of marine life in a relatively short time. But whether you really need this company to do it? I’m not so sure.
Even before we had left, the guides were already asking for good reviews—which felt premature, especially since we didn’t leave anywhere near the promised 9:00 AM. “Island time,” they said. Funny though, “island time” doesn’t apply at the end of the tour: we returned exactly at 3:00 PM, not a minute later, and definitely not 15 minutes later to make up for the delayed departure.
Throughout the day, we were reminded at least ten times to leave a review, always with the same tired joke: “We’re called this company if you give five stars, and something else if you don’t—we’ll say we’re from Nextdoor Tours.”
One positive point is that they don’t feed the sharks themselves. But during the trip, the guide did take us snorkeling near a boat that was feeding sharks. That feels a bit hypocritical.
We were also told to keep a minimum distance of 3 meters from the manatees—which everyone did, except for our guide, who swam up close with his GoPro. As a result, he’s in nearly all of my footage. Half of the snorkel spots are guided, the other half are not. Which is fine, but people want pictures of everything, not just the spots where the guide decides to jump in. I was glad to have brought my own GoPro.
Another thing worth mentioning: the boat ride itself was very rough. We were seated at the front, and although we’re quite used to boat tours, my wife felt like she was getting launched off the seat at times. It actually hurt when the boat slammed into the water. Despite the big waves, the captain didn’t slow down at all.
The food was decent. One final note: you won’t go ashore during the trip, so be prepared to use the sea as your bathroom

Use another snorkeling tour that won't gaslight you - I try to avoid writing negative reviews (you can look at my other reviews from over the years as proof. Definitely not a complainer). I keep in mind that people have bad days, mistakes can be made. I don't want to do any harm to a business because of my one experience. But, after looking at Salt Life Eco Tour's TripAdvisor reviews again after my experience (saw so many positive ones when I booked, was wondering what I missed), filtering for the lower-rated reviews, I realized that my experience was actually not unique to me. There are a few things from the day that I wasn't thrilled with, but it was the gaslighting afterwards that I've now realized they have a record of doing (and in my case the owner Daniel signed off on) that pushed me to write this review.
On their website's homepage, under "What sets us apart?" they list "free GoPro photos/videos." Since there are so many tour groups to choose from, I let this be my deciding factor. I thought it would be cool to have a snorkel photo since GoPros are expensive therefore I'll never take my own underwater pics. Plus, who wants to spend their time taking photos underwater if you only get to snorkel every few years? I did the all day tour. After multiple stops I noticed the Salt LIfe Eco Tours captain who swam with us wasn't taking photos of the snorkelers. After I saw him take about 12 in a row of a shark laying still on the ocean floor in Hol Chan, I asked if he could take one of us (there were 5 of us total in the water at that point. Would not have taken long). He said "next stop." At the next stop, Shark Ray Alley, he wasn't taking photos. So I asked again, and again he said "next stop." But, due to no manatees, there were no more stops. Jamal, who was the amazing co-captain (I really liked him) with lots of energy (the opposite of the captain) said he was sure the captain must've taken some photos from afar.
The next day I was emailed a DropBox link of photos of someone else's tour. They were great, lots of pics of snorkelers and sea life. But they were not of my tour, nor were they of the people on the other all day tour that left right before us. I explained this via WhatsApp and email, assuming there had been a mix-up. I didn't hear back, so I wrote again the next day. I was told that the pics were of my captain's tour on May 14th. I assured him it was not. The person said they'd look into it and get back to me. Three days later I had not heard back, so I wrote again. When he replied (this time it was signed Daniel, the owner), he again told me the photos/videos he shared were from my captain's tour on May 14th. He also told me that they are professional tour guides, not photographers. I never thought that, nor did I complain about the quality of photos, just that there were zero photos of my tour. He also said that the goal was never to be a "GoPro company or a professional media company." He added those quotation marks, I'm not sure what he was quoting from. But, as I pointed out to him, one of the things they that sets them apart is "Free GoPro photos/videos." He said he never thought the photos would overshadow the beauty of the tour. Felt like he was implying I was being unreasonable asking for what I was promised. Like I told him, I appreciate the beauty of the sea, I took two more tours with a different company, which btw did not offer photos, and that was fine (overall, had a much better time with that tour; smoother boat ride, etc.). I was not snorkeling for the pics. But no one wants to feel like they're getting gaslit, especially from someone who made $200 off of you (there were two of us). I obviously know which day I took the tour and the name of the captain and co-captain I spent the day with. Also, you can click on the photos in DropBox, click on "info" and find the date and time. The photos I was sent were from Saturday, May 10th, not the 14th which I was repeatedly told they were from. As if I somehow forgot which day I took the tour.
Now that I read through the lower rated reviews I realize they have a track record of either sending another tours' photos or no photos at all. As I told the owner Daniel, just admitting photos were not taken would have been acceptable, instead of trying to convince me the pics he sent were from my captain's tour on my tour date. There are many great snorkeling tours out of Caye Caulker and Ambergris. Choose one that doesn't promise something they apparently have a record of not delivering and then gaslight its customers afterwards.
As for the eco brand, it is true that they have reusable plates and napkins, which is great. But they say they don't feed the fish, and while that is technically true, they visit the tarpons telling everyone to put their hands out so the fish will think they're being fed. And when they go to shark ray alley they throw sargassum (seaweed) in the water making the sharks think it's food. It feels just as bad or maybe worse to tease them. There are plenty of sharks swimming around because of all the other boats that do feed them. This seems unnecessary and against the eco brand.
