- Zemun - Welcome aboard! Today, the journey takes us to Zemun — often referred to as a “city within a city” by the residents of Belgrade.
Nestled along the Danube River, Zemun is one of Belgrade’s most enchanting areas, celebrated for its delightful ambiance and unique 18th- and 19th-century architecture.
Our first destination is the vibrant Zemun Market, where visitors can savor a variety of Serbian cured meats, cheeses, and cracklings. Naturally, no Serbian culinary experience would be complete without sampling the national drink — rakija.
Following this, we’ll indulge in burek, a cherished traditional pastry, filled with either meat or cheese.
Next, it’s time for a quintessential Serbian dish: ćevapi, accompanied by kajmak, a rich creamy dairy spread, and warm fresh flatbread.
To conclude on a sweet note, we’ll relish plum dumplings — a traditional dessert sure to delight any sweet tooth.
- Zemunski kej - The lovely Danube riverwalk in Zemun is one of the most renowned riverwalks in the entire country!
- Zemun - We will spend the majority of our time in the charming Zemun, constructed in the 18th and 19th centuries by the Austro-Hungarian Empire authorities, now part of Belgrade.
- Zemunska Pijaca - The lively and bustling street market of Zemun is always a delight to visit.
- The Millenary Monument - As the cherry on top, you will visit the main attraction and landmark of Zemun - Gardoš Tower (Millenary Monument).
- Palata Srbije - On our way, we will see one of the largest communist-era buildings from the past - the federal executive office, now known simply as the Palace of Serbia.
