Its construction spanned nearly 30 years, primarily due to financial constraints, wars, and societal disagreements.

- Kalemegdan Park and Belgrade Fortress - This strategically advantageous ridge at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers has been inhabited since prehistoric times, offering control over the surrounding plains from the north and west.
- Clock Tower (Sahat Kula) - Construction of the Clock Tower began under Austrian rule and was completed under Turkish rule, between 1740 and 1789.
- Monument of Gratitude to France - Located just outside Kalemegdan Fortress, this monument symbolizes the friendship and cooperation between Serbia and France during World War I.
- Place where The City Keys were handed over to The Serbs in 1867 - The Keys Handover Memorial in Belgrade, Serbia, commemorates the event on April 6, 1867, when the keys to several Serbian fortresses were handed to Prince Mihailo Obrenović by the Ottoman Turks. This moment was a significant step towards Serbia’s international recognition at the Treaty of Berlin in 1878.
