Akoura secret lake - Aaqoura Lakes — alpine lakes in the Lebanese mountains
Arrive at the alpine lakes above Aaqoura, a collection of natural mountain lakes situated high in the Lebanese interior. These lakes are accessible year-round and remain largely undiscovered by international tourists. The stunning mountain scenery, clear waters, and lack of tourist infrastructure make this stop truly worthwhile. The driver will discuss the geography and ecology of the Aaqoura valley during the visit, with multiple photo stops at the best viewpoints. -
Baatara Gorge Waterfall - Baatara Gorge Waterfall — an unforgettable sight
A path through a pine forest leads to a viewing platform at the edge of a natural limestone sinkhole. Here, 255 meters below, a waterfall cascades through three natural stone bridges, carved by millions of years of erosion, and disappears into a cavern at the bottom. The Baatara Gorge is one of the most remarkable geological formations in the Middle East. The waterfall feeds an underground river that emerges kilometers away, and the entire structure was shaped solely by water. It is best visited between February and May when the flow is strongest, but it remains visually stunning year-round. The driver will explain the geological history throughout. The one-hour hike to the gorge rim and back is on easy terrain and suitable for all fitness levels. - Douma - Drive to Douma — a beautifully preserved Ottoman village in the Batroun district, recognized as one of the UNWTO Best Tourism Villages 2023. This global recognition is awarded to villages that excel in preserving rural landscapes, cultural diversity, local values, and culinary traditions. The recognition is well-deserved. Stone-paved streets wind between 18th and 19th-century stone mansions with arched windows and red-tiled roofs that have remained unchanged for two centuries. There are no souvenir shops or tourist infrastructure, just a remarkably intact traditional Lebanese village that rewards those who make the effort to find it. The driver will guide the group through the main streets, highlighting the architectural and historical details that make Douma one of the finest examples of traditional Lebanese mountain architecture in the country.
