Beirut - 7:30 AM — Departure from Beirut
Your private guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel in Beirut and head east on the Damascus highway, ascending through the Lebanese mountains as the Bekaa Valley unfolds dramatically below, stretching between two mountain ranges towards the horizon. - Stone of the Pregnant Woman - Before visiting the temples, stop at the ancient Roman quarry where the Stone of the Pregnant Woman remains exactly where it was carved 2,000 years ago — a single limestone block 21 meters long and weighing an estimated 1,000 tonnes, never moved, never completed. Standing beside it offers a new perspective on what you are about to see at the temples. If this was left behind in the quarry, what did they actually use?
- Temples of Baalbek - Enter the most magnificent Roman temple complex on earth. The Temple of Jupiter stands on Trilithon stones, each weighing over 800 tonnes — the largest dressed stones in human history, heavier than anything modern engineering can lift. Six of its original 54 columns still reach 22 meters into the sky. The Temple of Bacchus next door is larger than the Parthenon in Athens and almost entirely intact — a complete Roman temple standing as it did two thousand years ago. The circular Temple of Venus completes a complex that has outlasted every empire that built, conquered, and worshipped here. Your guide brings every layer of this extraordinary story to life.
- Jeita Grotto - From the colossal scale of Baalbek, descend into an entirely different kind of wonder. Jeita Grotto is a UNESCO tentative World Heritage Site and a top-five finalist in the New 7 Wonders of Nature — a network of limestone caves stretching 9 kilometers beneath the Lebanese mountains. The upper cave reveals a forest of stalactites and stalagmites, some over 8 meters tall, formed over millions of years. The lower cave is darker, quieter, more intimate — navigated by silent electric boat along an underground river through chambers where the only sound is water falling somewhere in the dark. After Baalbek’s open sky and ancient stone, Jeita feels like another world entirely — because it is.
- Byblos Castle - Arrive in Byblos as the afternoon light falls on honey-colored stone — the best time to be here. Continuously inhabited for over 7,000 years, Byblos is one of the oldest cities on earth and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Crusader castle was built in the 12th century from Phoenician and Roman stones — you can see the recycled columns and carved blocks in its walls if you know where to look. Inside, the archaeological layers tell the full story: Neolithic foundations, Bronze Age temples, Phoenician royal tombs, Roman streets. Byblos gave the world its alphabet. Its name gave us the word Bible. Your guide makes every stone speak.
- Old Souk - Step out of the castle and into the old souk — stone lanes, artisan jewelers, antique dealers, and the smell of fresh coffee from doorways that have been open for generations. Follow it down to the ancient fishing harbor — wooden boats, medieval walls, Mediterranean light — and consider whether this is not the finest place in Lebanon to end a day.
-
Byblos - Lunch in Byblos — optional
A waterfront table, fresh mezze, grilled fish, and the oldest harbor in the world as your view. After a day this full — you have earned it. -
Beirut - Return to Beirut — approx. 6:00 PM
Your guide and driver will take you back to Beirut along the coastal highway — drop-off at your hotel at the end of a day that crossed two mountain ranges, went underground, and walked through seven thousand years of human history.

If you have just one day to spend in Lebanon, make it this one. This exciting private tour from Beirut includes three of the country’s most remarkable landmarks in a single day. The journey begins at some of the most impressive Roman temples on the planet, continues into one of the world’s most breathtaking cave systems, and concludes in one of the oldest cities ever established.
In Baalbek, visitors will find themselves inside a temple larger than the Parthenon, next to stones heavier than anything a modern crane can lift. At Jeita Grotto, they will glide by boat through an underground realm of ancient rock formations untouched by human hands. In Byblos, they will stroll along streets that have been traversed for 7,000 years, passing Phoenician tombs, Roman columns, and a Crusader castle constructed from stones reused over millennia. Three distinct worlds, one unforgettable day.
