This is the go-to hike of the Great Wall surrounding Beijing, showcasing both undeveloped and renovated parts of the Wall at Simatai West and Jinshanling in just 3 hours. The journey to the Wall starts from the Kylin Tower in Simatai West, continuing westward towards Jinshanling. We will descend from the Wall at Shalingkou, Jinshanling, yet if you have the energy, you could hike an extra 30 minutes before descending at Zhuanduokou. The unrefurbished Wall with its watch and beacon towers winds east to west along the mountains. Enjoy the opportunity to make friends with local farmers, sample home-cooked local cuisine, and get an insight into local community life. It’s a photography enthusiast’s paradise along the Wall. As for the level of difficulty, the hike is moderately challenging and suitable for all ages.

- Children under 5 are not allowed to take this tour
- Vegetarian option is available, please advise at time of booking if required
- There is no toilet along the path on the Wall. There are toilets at the entrance of Simatai West and Jinshanling. Please prepare before hiking and always carry toilet paper by yourself.
- Please don’t make any appointment after the trip as the return depending on the traffic between 5-6 pm.
- Unlimited bottled waters are stored in our car/van today, and you need a day pack to carry them.
- We will bring trekking poles in our car/van and please tell your guide if you need one.
- Travel insurance is optional and is the sole responsibility of travellers. It is encouraged to have coverage of injury or accident.
- As responsible travelers, we “take nothing but photos, leave nothing but footprint”.

Once in a lifetime - 1 day to Jinshaling - Our 1-day hiking trip to Jinshaling was absolutely magical. Cheney, our guide, was so knowledgeable, funny, and made the day wonderful.
The Jinshaling section of the wall was incredible, with so many watch towers and incredible views at every turn. We hiked through 17 watch towers, and experienced multiple parts of the wall that were untouched since they were built in the Ming Dynasty. Cheney guided us on how to safely hike through steep sections, and he always knew where the best photo spots were.
We went in May and it was like we had the Great Wall to ourselves. I honestly feel bad for people who go to Badaling or Mutianyu and have to fight through the crowds. This trip with Great Wall Hiking and with Cheney truly was a once in a lifetime experience,

Stunning unforgettable experience !! - My family of four had an incredible full-day trek on the Great Wall at the end of April, and it was truly a fantastic experience! Our guide, Cheney, was wonderful; he shared so much fascinating history with us. We visited the Jinshanling section, which is breathtakingly beautiful and thankfully not crowded with tourists. Overall, it was an outstanding day. We highly recommend this tour, and especially Cheney, who is an exceptional guide! Thank you, Cheney, for making this day so unforgettable for our family.

Don’t hesitate booking with this company for your Great Wall trek! - My mother and I spent 2 days trekking on the Great Wall with our guide Cheney and driver Liang. This is the 2nd year in a row I have booked a Great Wall hike with this company. The team went above and beyond for us including bringing my mother to a pharmacy and taking her hiking boot shopping after hours (her old boots broke day 1) The hotel we stayed in was very nice and breakfast and dinner was amazing! We tried food we would have never had tried if it wasn’t for the team.
The car is immaculately clean. And always stocked with water and snacks. Liang always drove safely.
Cheney is very friendly, took many excellent photos and made us a highlight video. Do not hesitate to book with this company- they may be more expensive than other companies but you really get what you pay for here and more!

Stunning views, unforgettable hiking and the BEST guide - The service was 10/10. Smooth from start to finish and we had the best day. Cheney was incredibly knowledgeable and taught us a huge amount about the wall, its history and provided fascinating insight about China in general. We loved the walking - we never would’ve been able to get to the more remote parts of the wall without a guide and appreciated being able to see two sections, with a DELICIOUS lunch in between.

Amazing one day 14 km hiking at Jingshanling great wall. The guide, Jason, was great! - Hi, I'm Linda García from Mexico City. Jason was an amazing guide! This was a private experience with just mom and I, both girls, and we had a 14 km hiking blast starting at Jinshanling, where Jason took care of both all along the way.
My mom is 74 years old, and Jason helped her in some situations where for example, steps were very high, or the path was risky. We felt safe under his guidance.
That day was memorable because it was my birthday, thus, at lunch a birthday cake was waiting for me which made my day very special. Food was delicious, and the owner of the lunch spot was very friendly.
The driver was great too.
The views of the great wall were incredible, astonishing! They will live in my mind forever.

Best experience ever - I walked on the Great Wall of China with Cheney last week and it was one of the best experiences of my life. On this part of the wall there was hardly anyone; the views were beautiful, both of the wall and the towers and of the mountains around us. We were also lucky that the apricot blossoms were in bloom.
We could have done this on our own, without a guide, but Cheney told us so many interesting things about the wall that we would never have seen without him.
Highly recommended. When I show the pictures to my colleagues now, they can hardly believe the beauty.

Absolutely don’t miss this! - If there is one thing and just one tour you can do in China, this will be it. Absolutely perfectly organised tour. Started with a steep climb of 1000 steps and then the entire hike was so easy. We saw so may coming from the opposite direction who really struggled. Great views, no rush in the initial sections, great for pictures too. We are also vegetarian and they had organised excellent Chinese food for us. Really loved it. Special mention to our most wonderful guide David (Dewit) absolutely fantastic guy! Really enjoyed the tour because of him. Gave us lot of time too! 5 stars for him!

3 days hiking (chen Jia Pu, Jin shan Ling, Gu Bei kou) - Thank you Chenny! The 3 days hiking with you was great and well organised. The hiking was taff, but not too taff. Camping was cool and directly at the wall. If you plan to do this trip, then please pack enough warm clothes for the night in the tent.
Food was also excellent and the dumpling-course was really funny too.
I can absolutely recommend this once in a lifetime experience.
We would book again with this organisation and Chenny!
