- Seventeen Arches Bridge - Constructed in the 15th year of Emperor Qianlong’s reign during the Qing Dynasty (1750), the Seventeen-Arch Bridge connects the east embankment to the South Lake Island, stretching over 150 meters. It is the longest surviving bridge in Chinese imperial gardens, named for its seventeen arches. The bridgehead and balustrade are adorned with 544 stone lions in diverse forms, and at each end of the balustrade, there are four uniquely carved stone beasts.

- Hall of Happiness and Longevity - Initially built in the 15th year of Emperor Qianlong’s reign during the Qing Dynasty (1750), the Hall of Happiness and Longevity was constructed by Emperor Qianlong to commemorate his mother, Empress Xiaosheng Xian’s 60th birthday. It was destroyed by the Anglo-French Allied Forces in the 10th year of the Xianfeng reign (1860), rebuilt in the 12th year of the Guangxu reign (1886), and renovated in the 17th year of the Guangxu reign (1891). It later served as the bedroom for Empress Dowager Cixi.
- Hall of Benevolence and Longevity - The Hall of Benevolence and Longevity is the principal building of the imperial court area in the Summer Palace. It was where Empress Dowager Cixi and Emperor Guangxu conducted state affairs, received congratulations, and welcomed foreign envoys during their residence in the palace.
