Tiananmen Square (Tiananmen Guangchang) - The guide will meet the group in the hotel lobby at 8:30 am (departure times may vary depending on the season).
The first stop is Tiananmen Square, the central landmark of Beijing. As the most populous country in the world, China sees thousands of visitors to the Square daily. Modern China has its roots here.
At the heart of Tiananmen Square stands a monument honoring the People’s Heroes, those who perished during the Second World War. To the east is the Great Hall of the People; to the west is the National Museum of China; and to the south is the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall.
The square’s architectural design follows the traditional Chinese Feng Shui principles (DON’T FORGET TO TAKE A PHOTO HERE).
Forbidden City-The Palace Museum - The tour guide will lead the group from the South Gate into the Forbidden City. Once the royal palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties, the Forbidden City has witnessed 24 emperors and showcases the pinnacle of Chinese architecture. It is the largest and best-preserved wooden structure palace complex in the world.
After exploring the main attractions, the group will exit through the East Gate.
Bell and Drum Towers - The private car will then transport the group to the Bell and Drum Towers, located in the Beijing Hutong area, offering a glimpse into the city’s history. For centuries, Beijingers have resided in these narrow alleys. To preserve these traditional structures amidst modern development, the government protects the area. With the guide’s assistance, visitors can tour a local family’s home and observe their lifestyle.
Lunch will be arranged near the Drum Tower.
Temple of Heaven - Zhaoheng Gate (South Gate) → Circular Mound Altar → South Divine Kitchen → Echo Wall → Imperial Vault of Heaven → Three Echo Stones → Danbi Bridge → East Annex Hall → Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests → West Annex Hall → Palace of Abstinence → Divine Music Administration
Later, visitors can explore the Pearl Market (Hongqiao Market), the most vibrant souvenir market in Beijing. The tour guides will offer tips on bargaining with small traders, ensuring a joyful shopping experience.
After the tour, the guide will escort the group back to the hotel or another preferred location (around 5 pm). Guests may also inquire about popular city restaurants where the driver can take them.
Visit the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall and take a dragon boat ride to see the Summer Palace
Mutianyu Great Wall - The Great Wall in Beijing spans over 600 kilometers. For the past decade, the Mutianyu section has been regarded by tourists as the best part of the Great Wall to visit. Unlike other sections, Mutianyu is less crowded and easily accessible with ample transportation options. The Great Wall here is gentle enough for the elderly and suitable for young children to walk. The highlight of this trip will be the toboggan ride down and the cable car ride up, with tour guides accompanying the group throughout, explaining the history of the Great Wall.
Summer Palace (Yiheyuan) - After a morning of exploration, a hearty, delicious meal awaits. It’s about a 90-minute drive to the Summer Palace, a traditional Chinese garden featuring Kunming Lake, Longevity Hill, and the architectural and horticultural marvel that is Riverside House. While not as grand as the Imperial Palace, this gem shines with symmetry, restraint, and beauty.
On the return journey to the hotel, the group will pass the famous Bird’s Nest national stadium. If desired, there will be an opportunity to stop for photos.
The group will arrive back at the hotel around 5:30 pm. What a wonderful day.
