An absolutely perfect day - I’ve wanted to see the Great Wall since I was a kid. And as a photographer, I wanted the chance to take my time a photograph the Wall and the surrounding scenery without being crushed by thousands of other tourists. I had no idea how absolutely perfect this tour would be. I booked the tour about a month before our trip from the United States to Beijing. The guide, Leo, reached out to me quickly, was very helpful, and very professional. On the day of the tour he picked my wife and I up from our hotel in Beijing and we started the 2 1/2 hour drive to the Gubeikou portion of the Great Wall. Leo was a great driver and the ride was very comfortable. His English is fantastic. And he shared so much history to prepare us and give us context for our visit, The Gubeikou portion of the Wall was never rebuilt by the Government in the 1970s like many of the more well-known portions. It was amazing to hike the Wall as it existed hundreds of years ago. On the hike up, along, and back down, we saw maybe 4 other people. It was so quiet and so peaceful. And it was beautiful. Next, we went to lunch. Leo took us to a small local restaurant. We’ve been in China for about 10 days and are pretty adventurous eaters. This was one of the best meals we’ve had, but also has some dishes that should be familiar to Americans and Europeans who regularly eat Chinese food. It was so good. Next we went to the Jinshanling portion of the Wall. Again, we were almost the only people there, seeing only one other tour group. It was a bit cloudy for good sunset photos, but that did not detract from the area’s natural beauty at all, nor did it diminish the absolute grandeur of the Wall and the landscape. After we finished, Leo drove us back the 2 1/2 hours to our Beijing hotel. He shared more history with us. This was one of the more perfect, pleasant days I can remember. I want to come back to China now specifically to do landscape photo

The Best Great Wall Tour - We made a private tour (only me and my wife) to see two absolutely amazing stretches of the Great Wall: Gubeikou and Jinshanling — with guide Leo Kui — and I can say with absolute conviction: it was the best private tour we have ever done in life. We are frequent travelers. We have already hired guides in several countries, including in extremely structured destinations. Still, this experience surpassed all. First fundamental point: It's two and a half hours drive from Beijing. And that makes all the difference. Many people want the Wall “closer.” Don't do that. These 2:30 took us to a beautiful, preserved and virtually empty Wall. At times it seemed like it was just ours. Almost no one to bother the photos. No crowds, no queues, no mass tourism. Only us, the silence of the mountains and that historical vastness. Gubeikou delivers the most rustic and authentic part. Jinshanling delivers cinematic views — especially at sunset. And the sunset... just surreal. Now, about the guide Leo Kui. Absolute punctuality. Extremely polite. Immaculate professionalism. The historical knowledge is impressive. It not only talks about dates — it explains the military context, dynasties, architecture, defensive strategy, geopolitics of the time. You understand why every tower is there. The Wall is no longer “beautiful” and makes sense. Another huge difference in China: his English is exceptional. Fluent, articulated, of course. Can explain complex matters naturally — something really rare. This completely raises the level of experience. The car? Spectacular. Comfortable, quiet, extremely well taken care of. Long transfer done with total comfort. Free water available all the time — take care of details. The lunch was typical, traditional and of great quality. Nothing artificial tourism. Authentic Chinese experience. And now what really marked us: Guid Leo Kui took a professional camera and took simply INCREDIBLE photos of us in the Wall. Professional level photos. Perfect angles. Perfect light at sunset. And that wasn't part of the package. It was his gift. This gesture alone would show dedication. But added to everything — turns the tour into something memorable. In addition, he is intelligent, cult, excellent in conversation and can talk about virtually any subject: history, culture, politics, economics, travel. It’s not just a guide — it’s an interesting company all day long. If you want to get to know the Great Wall the right way — with historical depth, comfort and real exclusivity — go to Gubeikou and Jinshanling with the Leo Kui Guide. 2:30 by car makes all the difference. It was, without exaggeration, the best private tour we've ever done in the world.

Good experience - Adele is very knowledgeable and she explained a lot about the history of the Great Wall during our ride there. The driver is also very polite and nice person. The hike up to Gubeikou section of the wall is quite challenging especially for me as i have a slight fear of heights. However it was well worth it as the experience and scenery is amazing. Jinshanling is much easier and it is a bit touristy but there is still very little people visiting that section. Hence it was an enjoyable experience too.

Amazing Day! - This was an amazing tour. Adele was our guide and was in the lobby of our place 20 minutes before departure. She was friendly with a lot of energy. The approximately three hour trip there and back is a slog, but a necessary part of the day. We arrived at Gubeikou and climbed up to an unrestored part of the Great Wall (Wild Wall). It was so interesting and there were very few other people around so we felt like we had the wall to ourselves. It was safe and just ruggedly beautiful. After we climbed down we had a delicious lunch. Adele explained our food options and we picked out dishes we wanted to try. Then we drove to Jinshanling wall. We took a cable car up so we had a nice amount of time walking this part of the wall. It was restored and had more foot traffic. Watching the sun set while on the Great Wall was a magical experience. I will note that we also did the Mutainyu Great Wall another day. If you can, you should see two different sections of the wall. Amazing!

Excellent tour guide, breathtaking Wall views - Was a long day - far drive, but well worth it. Our guide, Peter, was excellent. He spoke good English and has a lovely sense of humour. He adapted the pace of walking to our needs. The lunch was delicious and the Wall panoramas spectacular - particular during sun set. I strongly recommend this tour.

Incredible experience, life long memories - Incredible experience, life long memories of some beautiful sights. Leo is an experienced guide, with tonnes of local knowledge and just a fun person to spend days exploring the city. The sunset tour of the Great Wall was absolutely unforgettable, it all looks more amazing in real life. With Leo there’s no language barrier at all, we just talked about life, history, we really connected at human level. He knows the best spots for Insta perfect pictures and importantly he is a safe driver, so we felt very safe and relaxed in his company.
