- Beijing South Railway Station - Depart at your convenience between 8am and 9:30am, as your private guide will pick you up from your hotel for a brief trip to Beijing South Railway Station. The bullet train journey to Tianjin takes approximately 30 minutes, despite the 85-mile (137-kilometer) distance from Beijing.
- Porcelain House - Upon arrival, you’ll transfer to a suitable vehicle: a coach, minivan, or car with a private driver, or for groups of three or fewer, a taxi. Your first destination is Porcelain House, a 1920s French-style colonial villa adorned with thousands of pieces of ancient porcelain. Beyond its striking exterior, the 5,000-square-yard (4,200-square-meter) interior houses a museum of porcelain and antiques, featuring stunning marble carvings, crystal, and semi-precious gems from the collection of the owner, Zhang Lianzhi.
- Five Great Avenues - Next, explore more of Tianjin’s international history with a visit to Five Great Avenues (Wudadao), an area featuring over 2,000 garden-style villas constructed by occupying powers during the 1920s and 1930s. Consider taking a horse-drawn carriage ride around the area (at your own expense) to fully appreciate the architectural beauty.
Your guide will introduce you to Tianjin’s cuisine during lunch at a local restaurant: as China’s fourth largest city, Tianjin’s food is renowned throughout the country.
- Ferris wheel, Eye of Tianjin - After lunch, visit a modern landmark of Tianjin: the Tianjin Eye. This 394-foot (120-meter) ferris wheel is built over the Yongle Bridge and is the first and only observation wheel constructed above a bridge. Each of the 64 passenger capsules can accommodate 8 passengers, allowing for a maximum capacity of 768 passengers per hour, and takes 30 minutes to complete a rotation. Enjoy breathtaking views extending up to 25 miles (40 kilometers) from its highest point.
- Ancient Culture Street (Gu Wenhua Jie) - Your final stop will be Tianjin’s Ancient Culture Street, the city’s premier shopping destination for traditional Chinese goods. In addition to the Tianhou Temple and shoe museum, there are nearly 100 stores offering items from embroidery and calligraphy to tea sets, seals, and figurines, as well as Tianjin specialties.
From here, you’ll return to Tianjin Railway Station and board your bullet train back to Beijing. Your guide will escort you back to your hotel, arriving between 4pm and 5:30pm.
