798 Art Zone and Energetic Cathy! - On the day of our tour the Hutongs were rather crowded as it was summer vacation and there were student tour groups as well as construction works along the Houhai Lake. We have Cathy as our tour guide. Cathy is nice and energetic and she did a great job to ensure that we were well looked after notwithstanding the situation. Cathy is bubbly and is full of English jokes up her sleeves so there can never be a dull moment when you are with her. Thanks for a great tour Cathy! For Art enthusiasts though a word of warning - do not expect too much from 798 Art Zone. It is a scattered collection of galleries and shops displaying various works of various standards. The Zone is not really well structured so how much you see depends on what you happen to come across. Personally I think the place needs a few years to develop and mature into a real attraction. Some galleries charge entry fees and do be careful - some of them are not really worth that fee (nor visit).
