The Palace Museum - Spend some time visiting the Forbidden City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Beijing’s top attractions. With over 600 years of history, it is the largest and most complete palace complex in the world, home to 24 emperors from 1368 to 1911. The guide will accompany visitors to the most important palaces along the central axis and the secret chambers on both wings, offering in-depth explanations and expert photography guidance. Note: If the visit falls on a Monday when the Forbidden City is closed, the Summer Palace will be visited instead. The visit to the Forbidden City does not include the Treasure Gallery, Clock Gallery, or any temporary exhibitions.
-
Meridian Gate - As the main gate and only open entrance to the Forbidden City (Palace Museum), it is located on the north-south central axis and is named for its position at the “Meridian”. Standing at 37.95 meters tall, it is the largest and most magnificent palace gate in the world. Originally built in the 18th year of the Yongle reign of the Ming Dynasty (1420), it was rebuilt twice during the Qing Dynasty, in the 4th year of the Shunzhi reign (1647) and the 6th year of the Jiaqing reign (1801), and has been preserved to this day. The layout follows the “Five Gates and Three Courts” ceremonial system, with a courtyard enclosed by gatehouses, highlighting the solemnity and majesty of the royal family.
-
Palace of Heavenly Purity - Visit the three main palaces of the inner court, which served as the emperor’s bedroom and the place where he handled daily affairs. The Palace of Heavenly Purity is the first of the three rear palaces of the inner court, serving as the emperor’s sleeping quarters and place of daily governance from the Ming Dynasty to the early Qing Dynasty. The plaque inside the hall, “Zheng Da Guang Ming,” was the place for the secret establishment of heirs during the Qing Dynasty.
-
Imperial Garden - Visit the entertainment area for the emperor and the imperial concubines. The inner court of the Forbidden City is divided into the East Six Palaces and the West Six Palaces, which were the main living areas for the emperors’ concubines during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, collectively known as the “Twelve Palaces”.
-
East Six Palaces: Jingren Palace, Chengqian Palace, Zhongcui Palace, Yanxi Palace, Yonghe Palace, Jingyang Palace
-
West Six Palaces: Yongshou Palace, Yikun Palace, Chuxiu Palace, Qixiang Palace, Changchun Palace, Xianfu Palace
The architecture is symmetrical and meticulously regulated, forming the core area of the imperial harem life and court culture. Located at the northernmost end of the central axis of the Forbidden City, it is a royal garden for the emperor and empress to rest, admire flowers, and perform rituals. Small and exquisite, with ancient cypress trees, unique rocks, pavilions, and towers arranged in a picturesque manner, it offers a scenic view in all seasons, embodying the Chinese garden aesthetic of “changing scenery with each step.” -
Mutianyu Great Wall - The guide will accompany guests on a 1.5-hour drive to the most beautiful section of the Great Wall of China, the Mutianyu section. It is a national 5A-level scenic spot and the essence of the Ming Dynasty Great Wall, known as “The Great Wall of China, Mutianyu is the most beautiful.” Its iconic structures include double-sided battlements and three enemy towers in a row; it connects to Juyongguan in the west and Gubeikou in the east, serving as a military stronghold protecting the capital. Upon arrival, enjoy an authentic Chinese buffet lunch, including soft drinks, to recharge in the afternoon. After lunch, climb the Great Wall and admire its architectural grandeur as an ancient military defense. Enjoy at least 2.5 hours of hiking, soaking in the surrounding enchanting scenery. Round-trip cable car or chairlift is included to save time and energy, allowing for personal choice. Toboggan notice: Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult; travelers aged 60 and above, or those with high blood pressure or heart disease, are not permitted. After descending from the Great Wall, a complimentary tea break awaits. Relax and taste different types of tea while learning about the rich traditions of Chinese tea culture.
