Most of the preserved sections at Badaling were constructed and fortified during the Ming Dynasty to protect Beijing from northern Mongolian invasions. Only 19 watchtowers have been restored and are accessible to visitors. The Badaling Great Wall is equipped with a cable car and pulley system to conserve energy. You can choose to hike up the wall step by step or take the cable car at your own expense. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape and explore the watchtowers along the wall.
- Ming Tombs (Ming Shishan Ling) - Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before continuing your tour to the Ming Tombs, the largest royal burial complex in China. You will visit the Dingling Tomb, the mausoleum of Emperor Zhu Yijun (1563 - 1620) of the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644) and his two empresses. Dingling holds significant historical value and attracts millions of visitors. The highlight is the stone Underground Palace, where numerous precious relics have been unearthed.
On the return journey to downtown, if time allows, there will be a stop to view the Bird’s Nest in its entirety, offering an opportunity for beautiful photographs. The tour concludes with a drop-off at your hotel.
