• Preguiças (Mandacaru) Lighthouse - Known as Farol Preguiças or Mandacaru Lighthouse, this landmark is situated in Barreirinhas, Maranhão, along the Preguiças River. Standing at 35 meters, it is a prominent tourist attraction in the area, offering a stunning panoramic view of the river’s confluence with the sea and the dunes of the Lençóis Maranhenses. Visitors ascend 160 steps on a spiral staircase to reach the top, rewarded by the breathtaking scenery. Access to the lighthouse is via a boat trip from Barreirinhas, rich in natural beauty and wildlife, including capuchin monkeys. Farol Preguiças is perfect for those eager to experience the natural splendor and local culture, along with excellent photo opportunities to cherish.

The journey to the boarding location begins at 8:20 AM, though times may vary based on the distance to the meeting point. Once aboard the speedboat, the group will travel along the river for approximately 40 minutes to reach the village of Vassouras, famous for its deep lagoons during the rainy season and the presence of lively capuchin monkeys. Following this, the tour proceeds to the village of Mandacaru, where visitors can ascend the Preguiças Lighthouse to enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view. There are also craft shops, along with caipirinhas and ice creams featuring typical regional flavors. The tour concludes at Caburé Beach, a sandy peninsula flanked by the river on one side and the sea on the other. Lunch will be served at one of the beach’s restaurants. The return journey typically begins around 2:30 PM, with an anticipated arrival at 3:30 PM.
