Amazing Private Food Experience with Yonatjan - This was one of the highlights of my time in Lima. The tour ended up being a private experience, and Yonatjan curated the stops based on my interests and introduced me to authentic local restaurants I never would have found on my own. Some favorites included Ají de Gallina, fresh fish and shrimp ceviche with corn and sweet potato, sea urchin, and my favorite dish of the day, Seco con Frejoles. We also enjoyed refreshing Chicha Morada. Beyond the food, Yonatjan shared great cultural insights and made the experience feel personal and relaxed. I tried new dishes, learned a lot, and walked away with a deeper appreciation for Peruvian cuisine. Highly recommend this tour if you want a local, authentic food experience in Lima.

Stand out experience - Amazing tour with Forbidden Tours and Yonathan. Loved every minute of this fun interactive tour. Worked with Yonathan to tailor tour on the way, visiting local stalls and restaurants with high quality food. Experienced the buses and 5 in a taxi, such fun. Husband is a chef and he loved every morsel. If you are wondering just book it as it is one of the best decisions you will make in Lima.

Food, drink and cultural tour of Lima. - An absolute recommend. Yonathon made sure our tour was tailored to our requests regarding food, drinks with cultural and local knowledge in spades. Walking, bus rides and a fun taxi ride, we will cherish that one 🤣 and a drone and video keepsake to boot. Thank you so much Yonathon, Keep this treasure going, people would be crazy to miss this opportunity to see Lima this way. The Aussies.

An Authentic Experience! - This truly is an authentic Lima experience! Be prepared to walk and be open to new adventures in food and drinks. We will never forget the delicious variety of ceviche and how to eat it to maximize the flavors. It was all wonderful! We loved the use of the drone in creating the video to capture this fantastic experience! Thank you Yonathan for showing us the real Lima!

Off the beaten track food adventure - Had an amazing tour with Jonathan, took me on an adventure to the local fish market and up a mountain to a hidden ceviche spot and we had a blast. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for off the beaten track hidden gems!!

Best food tour in Lima - Had an incredible time on our tour. In advance our guide asked us what we wanted to eat and created a nice afternoon walking and hitting all of the destinations. Super friendly, informative, and even after spending a few weeks here in Lima we still learned a lot. 10/10!

Local taste with an emoliente - It was a great experience. The whole family enjoyed taking us to places we would definitely never go. The local daily taste ended up being different from some of the restaurants we had been going, and the prices too! The experience with the emolientes was one of a kind!!

And absolutely incredible, personalized experience - What an incredible experience. We were the only people in the group, so could really dictate what foods you wanted to try, and what we wanted to see. Yonathan is an incredible guide with so much knowledge of the neighborhoods and Lima culture. We stumbled into this, literally, when we saw a sticker on the sidewalk promoting the tour. We completed the form online, and in 15 minutes, we’re walking through Barranco. We have taken free, walking tours and expensive food tours in dozens of cities around the world. This was by far the most genuine and interesting.

Do this first when you get to Lima!! - We did this on a whim towards the end of our week in (mostly) the Barranco neighborhood, had no idea Suerco is the old “other half” of Barranco, but there seem to be a multitude of hidden gems over there. Jhonathan took us on a very informative part-walking part-riding tour of his back yard. Tried fantastic examples of local fare and prices you double take at they’re so low. Would absolutely recommend this, and do it early on in your trip so you know what to look for and when you’re paying too much!

Here's a tip - the good: Hayaq had absolutely amazing food and we were able to get a custom vegan dish with the best sauce i've ever had! I met the tour guide Yonathan easily and got home safely. i'm vegan so i couldn't really eat at the first two stops but this is by no means a fault of the tour (milk and egg in CHIFA dish, fish and urchins in ceviche) - so i let the guide Yonathan eat them. the bad: Tour guide Yonathan was late. he asked me to buy him beers during the tour (for a total of 5) so i did and factored it into his tip. there were no free samples on the tour. he took pictures and video of me eating even though i specifically told him i didn't want any. we arrived at the 2nd restaurant before they opened and had to wait/walk around for an hour. the ugly: Yonathan got way too comfortable either from the 5 beers he had or from a complete lack of respect, as he started eating my meal at Hayaq without my permission (the only meal that was vegetarian). we're literally sitting there clashing forks with each other. i started overeating to finish what i was going to take home because he wouldn't stop and ended up feeling a little overstuffed and queasy. THEN he tries to leave me in the town of Surquillo at the end of the tour and asks if i wanted to tip then or later. i said i was lost and needed him to help me get back to where we started like it says in the info for the tour - he reluctantly agrees to not ditch me (since i had held off on tipping him yet). once we got off the bus I gave him 20 more soles as the tip. he then DEMANDS that we go to an ATM and that I tip him AT LEAST 100! I said it didn't say that anywhere in the ad, what are you talking about?! He said it was insulting of me to try to tip him 20. let's do the math! 5 beers x 4.5 soles ~ 22 chifa portion he ate ~ 10 soles ceviche portion he ate ~ 40 soles hayaq portion he stole ~ 30 soles after treating him to drinks and food, he was in over 100 soles deep. I gave him another 20 on top of that only to be met with an ungrateful demand for more and comments that he should be spending sunday with his family instead. it was a terribly awkward ending to a rough day.
