So worth a visit....take a break from Gaudi!!! - Oh my God this place is fantastic! I rate it right along with the Sagrada Familia and feel everyone should go see it. Originally a hospital, it's really beautiful, in Art Nouveau style (oh the tiles....just beautiful!!) with different pavilions for the different wards, male/female, different types of illness/condition. Clearly, some had fallen into disrepair and a project to renovate is ongoing, but some parts are simply stunning and the exhibition areas have really good information. In the central courtyards you can sit, and for us at this time of year there were orange trees heavy with fruit all around, plus other lovely plants eg lavender. Barcelona isn't only Gaudi!!!!

Sunday, October 12th, afternoon visit. - We arrived around 3:30pm. We bought our tickets on-site, getting the audio guide to get us through the tour. They also give you a map of the buildings you will visit, and what order to visit them. It was somewhat busy when we got there. But definitely not shoulder to shoulder. It was a very relaxing visit. This was probably my favorite place to visit in Barcelona, on this trip. It far exceeded my expectations. The audio guide worked very well. The buildings were beautiful. The displays were interesting. I really enjoyed the beautiful tunnels too. We spent quite a bit of time roaming around the buildings and exhibits. We had a great visit.

Must see in Barcelona - Beautiful architecture and fascinating story about the hospital. The tile work is still in very good condition.

An incredible place! - Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau is an incredibly special place. Not only are the architecture and grounds stunning, it's an incredibly peaceful place too. Founded c.600 years ago, it's almost astounding it was still a working hospital as late as 2009. Very few of the buildings have been restored or even stabilised but what you can see is remarkable, not least the main entrance building above and below ground. The grounds are beautiful too! It's not well known so very few tourists and it's near to Sagrada Familia so you can easily take in both.

Disappointed with the Llums de Pau this year - We absolutely loved the Llums de Sant Pau last year, it was a truly magical experience that we were looking forward to repeating. Unfortunately it was much less impressive this year! Last year each area presented a tradition from different parts of the world, with wonderful, interactive decorations and really interesting information about each place. The children were given little passports to fill in on their way around (which my children have treasured all year!). This year it was just lights with different themes. At an extra cost, there was an area for children to meet King Baltasar. The enigma for children wasn't thrilling (just finding letters on some of the information boards), plus we struggled to find the staff at the end to get the sticker (and they forgot to ask what the answer to the enigma was). I really hope something at the level of the 2024 version is planned in the future.

Little inside - Very little to do and see aside from the external architecture. Gaudi’s architecture is beautiful however Barcelona has no shortage of great locations designed by him.
