In the early 20th century, Barcelona earned the nickname “can Fanga” — the “house of mud” — because rain would turn the streets muddy. To address this in the Eixample, a new neighborhood developed after the city walls were demolished, streets were paved with the Panot, a durable and easy-to-maintain hydraulic tile. This design organized the urban landscape and permanently changed the city’s appearance. Today, the Panot is one of the most iconic symbols of the Catalan capital.
Please note that the artwork created during the workshop will need to be grouted by the staff. Typically, the artwork can be collected later in the afternoon or the following morning if the workshop occurs in the afternoon.
This experience is also sustainable and has been awarded the BIOSPHERE certification for 2024.
