- Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic) - Embark on a delightful 3-hour walking tapas tour through Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter! Guided by our Local Expert, you’ll explore some of the city’s most iconic and emblematic locations, following in the footsteps of renowned artists while savoring essential Spanish and Catalan dishes.
With our local food expert, you’ll truly experience the essence of “vermuteo,” enjoy traditional, delectable tapas paired with typical wines, and indulge in one of the earliest documented desserts. Please note that the tastings mentioned may vary depending on the season and the availability of our partners.
- Carrer de la Mercè - Begin your culinary adventure on Carrer de la Mercè, one of the Gothic Quarter’s most lively streets, where you can also admire the stunning basilica of the same name, dating back to the 17th century. Here, you’ll visit one of Barcelona’s oldest operating tapas bars, where you’ll enjoy a glass of local wine paired with various tapas, such as fried anchovies, tomato salad, and “Pincho de Botifarra,” a piece of the typical “pan con tomate” (bread spread with tomato juice) topped with a piece of sausage.
- Carrer del Regomir - Continue your tapas tour on Carrer del Regomir. Nearby, you’ll savor a mix of delicious tapas such as the famous pan con tomate - freshly baked slices of bread with a tomato spread on top - pimientos del padron - small green peppers seasoned with olive oil - or the iconic potato tortilla. All of this will be accompanied by Cava, the “Spanish champagne.”
- Placa de Sant Josep Oriol - Plaça de Sant Josep Oriol is a charming square behind the renowned Basilica de Santa Maria del Pi. Despite its more famous neighbor, this square is worth visiting, especially on weekends when an artists’ market takes place, and if you’re fortunate, you might see them painting en plein air!
In a nearby tapas bar, you’ll discover some of the finest pintxos in town!
- Placa de Sant Jaume - Plaça Sant Jaume is the administrative heart of Barcelona, where you can admire - though only from the outside - buildings like the city hall or the headquarters of the Catalan government.
Plaça Sant Jaume is also famous for another reason: one of the oldest bakery shops in Barcelona! Here, you’ll taste Crema Catalana, one of the world’s most famous desserts and the official regional dessert as declared by the Catalan Institute of Cooking (lunch only).
In the evening, you’ll enjoy a handmade ice cream flavored with local ingredients like turron!
