A Day of Discovery: Acadia’s Natural Wonders

Otter Point offered stunning views, and we were lucky enough to spot a pod of porpoises swimming by, a delightful surprise for everyone!

One of the highlights of the tour was our stop at Jordan Pond. The views of the mountains from the wildflower field were breathtaking, and it was here that we enjoyed a truly gourmet picnic. Ash had prepared a spread that included Maine jam, fresh strawberries, Happy Cow Cheese, and Breton Crackers. We washed it all down with Maine Old Soaker Blueberry sodas, while enjoying turkey and ham sandwiches. As we dined, a loon swam by, adding to the magical atmosphere.

Our journey continued to Somes Sound, where Ash shared insights about the impact of global warming on the area. It was eye-opening to learn how the warming waters are affecting the local lobster population, causing them to migrate north towards Canada. This was a poignant reminder of the changes our planet is undergoing and the importance of preserving these natural wonders for future generations.

Hiking and History on Cadillac Mountain

While we didn’t tackle the more extreme hikes, we did enjoy a leisurely walk through a forest with cliff-side views. The abundance of blueberry and huckleberry bushes added a touch of whimsy to our hike, and Ash’s knowledge of the local flora and fauna made it all the more engaging.

Our final stop was Cadillac Mountain, where we took in the panoramic views that tied together all the places we had visited throughout the day. Standing at the highest point in the park, it was incredible to reflect on the diverse landscapes and rich history we had experienced.
