Upon arrival, the first stop will be The Thailand Burma Railway Centre, an interactive museum and research facility dedicated to the history of the Thailand Burma Railway. This fully air-conditioned center provides an educational and poignant experience.
- River Kwai - Enjoy a picturesque long-tailed boat ride along the Maeklong River to the world-renowned Bridge over the River Kwai, part of the Death Railway constructed by Allied POWs.
- Bridge Over the River Kwai - One of the most remarkable sections of the entire Death Railway line is the “Extension on the River Kwai,” which was built over a stretch of a stream that was then considered part of the MaeKlong River. The central section of the current Kwai River Bridge differs from the surrounding area, having been destroyed by bombs and rebuilt. It did not appear as it does now during World War II.
- Kanchanaburi War Cemetery - Visit the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery, a memorial to approximately 6,000 Allied prisoners of war (POWs) who died along the Death Railway line and were relocated post-war to this final resting place. Then, proceed to the JEATH War Museum, one of two war museums in Thailand about the Death Railway, constructed from 1942 to 1943 by Allied POWs under Japanese direction, as part of the famous Thai-Burma railways.
