An educational and emotionally moving day - A great tour of the Kanchanaburi area including the Allied War Cemetery, River Bridge, Hellfire Pass Memorial Museum, Konyu Cutting-Hellfire Pass walking trail and Memorial and finally take the train along part of the ‘Death Railway’. Definitely take this opportunity to pay respects to the Allied Forces and local civilian workers who lost their lives for our freedoms today. Plentiful local lunch, knowledgeable guide, good safe driver comfortable air con van. A long day from Bangkok but a definite ‘must do’ on your list.

Excellent use of a day in Bangkok! - Excellent Day Trip from Bangkok. A fully rounded experience of the trauma over the Death Railway construction and the topography surrounding it. Highlight has to be Hellfire Pass and the aura present. Decent lunch and pleasant train ride culminating in a walk across the legendary ‘Bridge over the River Kwai’. Our guide Alex was helpful and informative and our driver (missed his name) was a force of nature negotiating the Chaotic traffic. Fully recommend this tour despite the early start!

Worth it - It is a long day with an early start but so worth it. Alex was a fantastic guide and had the day planned out very well. Getting the train one stop ahead of a big group was a great idea! All of the places are sensitively handled, a very moving day. Nice lunch too!

A must see - It was very humbling experience. To read about it is one thing but to go to the actual site is very overwhelming

Simply an amazing trip... - Simply an amazing trip that you just have to do whilst in Thailand. It is both sombre and inspiring at the same time.

Tour was amazing - The whole itinerary was nicely planned. We chose this tour for the history and visiting the bridge and hellfire. The food was great! The views from the train ride were spectacular… however …. The guide Tony wasn’t as informative as expected the journey to the points were quiet and I was expecting maybe some information about the landmarks were visiting.

Set expectations - Order needs to have the interpretive centre or research centre first. We went to the cemetery first and missed the context of the railway and why deaths increased for particular dates. Research centre does a good job of explaining this, interpretive centre does is with their short video for people won don’t read at museums. Don’t expect much from the guide - his main focus was getting us where we needed to be which was fine. Info shared was mostly not related to the tour topic - it was about religion, politics or lady boys. There was a short intro at the start of the tour that was scene setting but you really need the museum or interpretive centre to understand what you’re seeing and why it’s important. Lunch was fine. Didn’t include a drink but free water is provided on the bus. Train trip is for an hour. Sit on the right for a view of the river and the bridge. There’s time to walk the bridge at the end of the train trip - there’s railing and plates over the sleepers so it’s fairly safe. There was no discussion at all about paying the extra 300 baht for a seat - I had read about this in other reviews, there were heaps of seats. The windows open and there are fans - it was pleasant and not too hot thanks to the breeze from the window. Lots of stairs on the hellfire pass walk. It’s easy and there’s heaps of time but it may not be suitable for all. Traffic terrible on the drive back to Bangkok. Would prefer option to get dropped at first metro station where traffic starts (eg bang wa) instead of sitting on the bus for an hour and a half dropping everyone else off. Pick up was 15 minutes early.

Time organisation was poor - Experience is good but we don’t have enough time. Museum is 40 mins. Walking 30 mins. No realistic time.
