However, in Thonburi on the west side, navigable canals remain, offering a glimpse into the past lifestyles of locals. This journey, aboard a long-tail boat, takes you through these canals, known locally as Khlongs, to discover the greenest and most tranquil part of Bangkok. What you will see in Khlong Mon is a glimpse of everyday life, as it must have been many years ago, with elderly monks in faded orange tunics and slow-moving people who still smile at you as they clean the fish they cook from there within minutes.

Houses on stilts wide open to the sun, flowered balconies, swings on the river and lots of real life, lots of wood and little cement, all very characteristic, if you want to see Bangkok with another eye, without horrible buildings and useless skyscrapers this is your trip.
