- Manly Beach - At Manly Beach, enjoy a walk near the Cabbage Bay Aquatic Reserve to the scenic Shelley Beach.
Along the way, discover a small rock pool adorned with two elegant sculptures, affectionately known as ‘The Sea Nymphs’.
Shelley Beach is unique as it faces directly back towards Manly Beach.
This small, secluded beach is surrounded by cabbage tree palms. From Shelley Beach, ascend some stairs to a lookout offering views of Manly Beaches and the northern beaches of Manly.
Depending on the conditions, surfers may be seen practicing their skills on a reef break with multiple take-off spots.
While in the Manly area, visit the North Head lookout in the Sydney Harbour National Park.
This is an excellent spot to admire one of the finest views of Sydney Harbour and the city skyline.
A photo stop may also be included to appreciate the grand neo-gothic sandstone building, formerly a seminary for priests (St Patricks).
- Palm Beach - At Palm Beach, walk to the iconic Barrenjoey Lighthouse, built from locally sourced Hawkesbury sandstone.
Once at the lighthouse, enjoy breathtaking views in every direction.
Looking south, see Palm Beach, an isthmus, and the Whale Beach Headland. To the northwest is Lion Island and Broken Bay. Directly west is the Pittwater inlet, a favorite among boaters, fishermen, and kayakers.
Across Pittwater is the lookout to be visited later in the day, West Head.
Palm Beach is famous for the long-running Australian soap opera, Home and Away. Filming might even be taking place during the visit!
Return to the car and continue the adventure along the coast, getting up close to several charming beaches.
Take a short break to admire the orange sands of Avalon Beach.
- West Head Lookout - The Ku-Ring-Gai Chase National Park boasts one of the highest concentrations of indigenous art in Australia, with an estimated 1500 pieces of Aboriginal art.
On the way to West Head, visit ancient Aboriginal rock engravings at the Basin Aboriginal art site. Access the site by walking through a natural bush setting.
Nearby, West Head offers one of the most spectacular views in all of Sydney.
The panorama includes the isthmus at Palm Beach, Barrenjoey Headland, central coast beaches, the entrance to Pittwater, and Lion Island. A truly magnificent sight!
