• Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge - Established in 1755, the Carrick-A-Rede rope bridge has a rich history of nearly 265 years! Originally, it featured just a single handrail and sporadic wooden slats, making it quite unsafe and appealing to thrill-seekers. Today, the bridge has been significantly improved for safety while maintaining the excitement of crossing. Situated along the North Antrim Coast, the Carrick-A-Rede Rope Bridge is approximately 100 feet above the Atlantic Ocean’s hollow waters.

The crossing is often seen as daring and ideal for thrill-seekers due to the bridge’s tendency to sway in the wind and the view from above. This is a fantastic stop and a wonderful part of the North Antrim Coast to include in the Giants Causeway Tour.

• The Dark Hedges - The final stop before returning to Belfast is The Dark Hedges, a renowned Game of Thrones filming location where ‘The King’s Road’ was set. The trees, planted in 1775, were designed to create an imposing entrance to the Gracehill House Estate.

Legend has it that the ghost of the Grey Lady haunts the trees, moving from one to another. She is said to be the spirit of James Stuart’s daughter or a housemaid from Gracehill House. This site is quickly becoming a heritage landmark in Northern Ireland and is a fantastic spot for Game of Thrones fans and tourists alike!

• Ballintoy Harbour - Known to Game of Thrones fans as the ‘Iron Islands,’ Ballintoy Harbour is a stunning location along the North Antrim Coast that attracts thousands of visitors each year. A brief stopover at the harbor offers the chance to explore, take a stroll, and capture some photos. It’s a truly remarkable harbor on a stretch of coast that must be experienced firsthand.
• Giant’s Causeway - The Giant’s Causeway, the main attraction of the North Antrim Coast, is one of the most impressive sites on the entire island of Ireland. The Causeway is steeped in Irish myths, which guides will share during the visit. Seeing the Giant’s Causeway is breathtaking, but experiencing it with the belief that a giant built it adds another dimension. The hexagonal patterns forming various rock structures can be explored, including ‘The Wishing Chair,’ ‘The Camel,’ ‘The Giant’s Foot,’ and the Cliff-Top Path, all of which will be highlighted during the visit! Admission to the Giant’s Causeway is free, though shuttle buses are available for £1 from the car park, or visitors can walk the route at no cost.

• Dunluce Castle - Dunluce Castle is a medieval ruin preserved to showcase the history of the North Coast and the territorial wars of the 15th and 16th centuries. Documented since the 13th century, the castle is nearly 800 years old! Its preservation allows visitors to experience and appreciate its historical significance. A stopover provides an opportunity to explore the castle grounds and capture fantastic photos.
• Bushmills Distillery - Tasting only for cruise ship tourists due to the tour’s duration

Join a Bushmills whiskey educator to witness the craft of whiskey-making at the Distillery. Walk through the living history of Bushmills’ grain-to-glass processes, experiencing the impressive sights and rich aromas from mash tun to pot still to barrel. • Dunseverick Castle - History of Dunseverick Castle

Recorded in the Irish Annals as Dun Sobhairce, Dunseverick Castle was first fortified by the ancient chieftain Sobhairce around the 5th century AD, possibly earlier. From the 7th century AD, it was occupied by the Dál Riada, a tribal group with strong maritime connections between northeast Ireland and western Scotland. It later became a center for the Earls of Ulster around 1250–1350 AD, and then a stronghold for the O’Cahans and later the MacDonnells from 1560 AD.

Saint Patrick and Dunseverick

It is said that Saint Patrick visited Dunseverick Castle, where he baptized Olcán, a local man who later became a Bishop of Ireland. The northern area of the site contains an oval depression of wet ground, thought to be a holy well, now known as St Patrick’s Well.

• White Park Bay - The stunning, sweeping sandy beach of White Park Bay is located in the small village of Ballintoy, County Antrim. This spectacular sandy beach forms a white arc between two headlands on the North Antrim Coast.

Its secluded location ensures plenty of space for quiet relaxation, even on busy days. The beach is backed by ancient sand dunes, providing rich habitats for bird and animal life.

The landscape in and around the bay was shaped between 200 million and 50 million years ago. Through faults, landslips, and raised beaches, fossils like Belemnites, Ammonites, and Gryphaea have been revealed. Look out for Elephant Rock—legend claims it is a woolly mammoth that tried to escape a volcanic eruption.
