• Ateshgah - Fire Temple - Located in the Suraxani district of Baku, Ateshgah is one of the three Mecusi temples worldwide. In Zoroastrianism, it holds a sacred status comparable to Mecca. The three shrines are situated in Iran, India, and Azerbaijan. Visitors entering the cellars can experience the marvels of this site. For instance, upon entering the 12 cells, one can witness the intriguing sight of flames flickering in the dome of the four-story building in Ateshgah’s courtyard. It feels as though one is standing on a step of the flame. Additionally, upon reaching the 18th cell and pausing there, one might hear peculiar sounds, as if voices are speaking. These mixed voices are audible, yet their words remain unclear.

Before the 7th century, the volcano served as a Mecus temple, and although the surrounding structures were destroyed, the fire persists.
