A Journey Through the Desert and Mountains

As a marine biologist, my adventures often take me to the ocean’s depths, but this time, I found myself drawn to the rugged beauty of Baja California Sur. The allure of the “Waterfalls of Santiago” was irresistible, promising a unique blend of desert and mountain landscapes. The journey began in Los Cabos, where the road to Santiago offered breathtaking views of the mountainside, the Sea of Cortez, and the dry riverbeds that crisscross the land.

The drive itself was a meditative experience, with the vastness of the desert stretching out on either side. The sun cast long shadows over the landscape, painting a picture of serenity and timelessness. As we approached the Ecological Ranch “Sol de Mayo,” the anticipation of discovering the hidden waterfalls grew stronger. This ranch, a typical Southern Californian homestead, was our gateway to the natural wonders that lay ahead.

Discovering the Hidden Oasis

The walk to the waterfalls was a gentle 15-minute trek along the mountainside, a path that seemed to whisper secrets of the land’s ancient past. The experience had been a perfect blend of adventure and tranquility, a testament to the diverse beauty of Baja California Sur.
