Day 1 - Cairo to Bahariya

Crystal Mountain, Egypt - At 13:00, continue the journey to Crystal Mountain, also known locally as Gebel al-Izzaz. This crystal hill, often referred to as the Jewel of the Desert, is composed of quartzite crystals and looks stunning under the sun. This natural wonder was discovered by chance a few decades ago.

Valley of Agabat - At 16:00, proceed to the Valley of Agabat, located deep within the White Desert. The extraordinary beauty of this place must be experienced firsthand. Millions of years ago, this area was submerged under the sea, leading to the formation of unique limestone and chalk rock formations. As the sky transitions from pink to a deep fiery orange, the rock shapes fade into the silence. Enjoy a simple yet delicious meal of chicken, rice, and vegetables around a small fire. Bedouin staff will organize dinner and desert camping.

Bahariya Oasis Guide

Bahariya Oasis - On the second day, enjoy breakfast in the desert before heading back to Bahariya Oasis for some rest and a shower. Then, return to Cairo.

Djara Cave - At 06:00, witness the sunrise from the desert. At 07:00, enjoy breakfast in the desert, and by 08:00, drive to El Khor Mountain, located 70 km off-road from the Valley of Agabat, arriving by 10:00. This area is remarkable for its sand dunes. At 11:00 am, drive to Sahel Baraka and take the highway to Djara Cave, 110 km from Sahel Baraka. Djara Cave is a serene and mystical desert site, featuring stunning prehistoric rock art depicting gazelles and other wildlife. The cave’s dripstone roof, formed by crystal deposits over millions of years, enhances its magical allure. El Farafra Oasis, known as the White Desert, is a tranquil and mystical desert.

White Desert - Bahariya Oasis - Cairo

Bahariya Oasis - At 06:00, enjoy the sunrise in the White Desert. At 07:00, have breakfast in the desert before driving to Bahariya Oasis. At 10:00, relax in the warmth of Bir Sigam, a hot spring located 7 km east of Bahariya on the Cairo road, known for its ideal temperature. Then, return to Cairo. If you wish to extend your stay by one night in Bahariya Oasis to explore further, this can be arranged.

A wonderful experience - This 3-day desert camping trip was truly one of the most incredible adventures we experienced in Egypt. If you are looking for something beyond the usual tourist sites, this journey into the Western Desert is absolutely unforgettable. The trip was very well organized from the start. After reaching Bahariya Oasis, the real adventure began with the 4x4 safari through the desert. We visited the Black Desert, Crystal Mountain, and several remote desert landscapes before heading deeper into the White Desert. The rock formations there are unbelievable and look like natural sculptures shaped by the wind over thousands of years. One of the highlights was visiting Djara Cave. The cave is fascinating and feels completely untouched, with beautiful rock formations inside. It was amazing to explore such a hidden place in the middle of the desert. Camping under the stars was the most magical part of the trip. The team prepared delicious meals and traditional Bedouin tea while we enjoyed the silence and the incredible night sky. Watching the sunset and sunrise in the White Desert is something I will never forget. The guides were friendly, experienced, and clearly knew the desert very well. Everything was safe, comfortable, and perfectly organized. I highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants a real adventure and to see a completely different side of Egypt.
